Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, who will marry in Venice in late June, are once again the center of attention. The Daily Mail reports that although many anticipated a lavish display of wealth befitting the founder of Amazon, insiders say the ceremony will be shockingly low-key, at least by their standards.
The couple chose to host a small event with fewer than 200 guests rather than a grand ceremony with thousands of attendees. Given that Bezos spends nearly $34 million annually on the upkeep of his half-billion-dollar superyacht, the Coru, the wedding’s 12 million euro cost is far less than anticipated.
The nine-bedroom boat will dock at the port of San Basilio, which is the closest to the city center and where, because of Venetian historical preservation, such a large ship may dock. Reports state that the couple and their families will remain aboard the yacht, with other visitors staying at the upscale hotels Aman and Cipriani.
According to reports, in an effort to keep things discreet and prevent unwanted attention, the invites were distributed either electronically or without paper. Bezos’ family will also be highlighted, including his father Mike Bezos, a Cuban immigrant who provided Jeff and his business Amazon with their first investment capital—$245, all they had at the time—and his mother Jackie, who gave birth to him when she was just 17 years old.
Sources close to the pair claim that public disapproval of the last Blue Origin space voyage, in which Sanchez flew with an all-female crew, had an impact on the decision to “tone down.” Many viewed it as a meaningless PR stunt, and the insider claims that the pair now wishes to avoid coming out as “modern Marie Antoinettes.”

One source, who is allegedly an attendee at the event, called the planned party a “make-under,” while another said it was “understated” and “not an ostentatious blowout.” “They understand that the space flight criticism was bad for a reason and are responding to it by being less ‘Marie Antoinette,'” said the source.
The insider said that the pair understands that going all out could represent social or economic inequity in a society when many people are struggling financially, which is why they decided to keep the bling at a minimum for their wedding. “People really underestimate Lauren and Jeff. Truly, they are good people. They don’t want the wedding to be a lightning rod for inequities in the world. It’s just a wedding,” the insider continued.

Still, despite the cuts and trims, “the celebrations are still expected to take place at jaw-droppingly beautiful – and exclusive – locations.” According to current rumors, the wedding will take place at the Fondazione Cini, a monastery and one of the oldest structures on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice.
Given the quantity of celebrities anticipated at the wedding, it has previously held the G7 conference, indicating that it is an appropriate venue. According to reports, Bezos will have Sanchez sign a legally binding prenuptial agreement before the wedding in case their union doesn’t work out.
