Ever since Donald Trump became the American President for the second time, his wife, Melania Trump has kept a rather low profile regarding making public appearances and being present at The White House. She is seen less with her husband than she was during his first term and that shows how she is prioritizing her own work during Trump’s second term.
While Melania’s absence has sparked rumors of trouble between her and Trump, a body language expert has pointed out that despite making lesser public appearances, when Trump and the FLOTUS are seen together, their body language is “often far more tactile, intense and even intimate than ever before.”
Jones, the body language expert, also said, “There has been a seismic change in Donald and Melania’s body language for this current term in the White House. In terms of time spent together, there seems to be a ‘less is more’ tendency that has given fuel to the speculation that their lives have gone down separate professional paths.”
She also focused on Melania’s portrait that is hung in The White House, saying, “Melania’s official portrait for the White House seemed to set the tone for her enhanced profile. She chose to adopt a pose more suited to a powerful CEO than a traditional, supportive FLOTUS, standing at the head of a board table with a distinctly power-dressed styling.”

Jones also referred to Melania’s book titled Melania, which had come out before Trump was elected for the second time. That book clearly reflected the kind of determined personality that the FLOTUS has, as Jones said, “Her book had been published before Trump getting back into the Presidential saddle and during the launch tours she had been very firm about having ‘My own yes’s and my own no’s’, introducing a much more assertive version of Melania with her own views and opinions.”
She further added, “There was a sense that Melania and Trump might rule from distanced thrones, with Trump in the White House while Melania remained in Mar-a-Lago, but then their actual appearances together revealed signals of affection and closeness that the world had never been shown previously.”
Talking about the personal chemistry that Trump and the First Lady now exude, Jones said that the couple is making greater efforts to present themselves as a loving one, adding, “During the National Day of Prayer service the pair looked totally in tune and even flirtatious. Trump made Melania laugh and their private whispering and tie-signs made them suddenly look like a devoted couple. They were tactile and they seemed to be enjoying each others company.”

She also added, “Their visual appearance seems much more in tune now, too. There is the look of a much more even power balance, with Melania dressing ‘corporate’ more than ‘film star’-chic. At one appearance she matched her husband in a black tuxedo suit and there is another when she has worn a shirt and tie in a much more masculine type of styling than usual.”
It should be noted here that the FLOTUS has taken a more active participation in political matters as the Take It Down Act, which was signed into law by Trump on May 19, 2025 came to being because of Melania’s efforts. The bill has received massive support from both Republicans and Diplomats and aims at addressing the issues caused by non-consensual AI generated intimate images, including ‘revenge porn’ and ‘deep-fakes’.
Therefore, despite her lack of presence at The White House, Melania is continuing to make her mark, as she is focusing more on her work and actively choosing not to be seen only as the President’s wife who is there to lend her support to her husband during moments of need.
