On May 19, 2025, Melania Trump led the proceedings in the Rose Garden of the White House as Donald Trump prepared to sign the bill, regarding the Take it Down Act. Melania has played a major part in passing the bill and addressing the gathered crowd, she said, “It’s an honor to join you here today.”
She also mentioned that the Take it Down Act was nothing less than a National Victory and also thanked both the parties for cooperating to pass the bill. This bill will help parents to protect their children from online exploitation and will also stand against AI generated porn.
Melania also thanked her husband Donald Trump, saying, “”I want to thank my husband, President Trump, for standing with us on this effort.” She further added, “His signature on this new law is not where our work ends on this issue. Now we look to the federal trade commission and the private sector to do their part.”
As reported by the Irish Star, “Back in April, the US House of Representatives on Monday passed the ‘Take It Down’ Act, which aims to protect Americans from deepfake and revenge pornography. The bill makes it a federal crime to ‘knowingly publish’ or threaten to publish intimate images without a person’s consent, including AI-created ‘deepfakes.’”

After Melania, Trump came forward to praise his wife, saying, “America is blessed to have such a dedicated and compassionate first lady.” He also added, “You’ve made [Democrats and Republicans] get along and she didn’t even know about that. She didn’t know we had a problem, but I want to thank you, honey, you’ve done amazing.”
The behavior of Trump and Melania appeared warm and after months of separation rumor and other kinds of speculation about their marriage hitting the rocks, this public appearance was quite real and joyful. Trump also mentioned how it should be Melania’s signature on the bill and not his, given how hard she had worked to get it passed.

Trump appeared to be in high spirits as he lovingly referred to Melania as ‘honey’ multiple times. He also helped her to find a seat as he spoke and referred to his own act as gentlemanly. The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also congratulated Melania as she had sent her flowers in the morning.
