People often blur the line between curiosity and entitlement and Kate Middleton has been a victim of immense public scrutiny. Of course her fans love her but there should be a boundary. It’s when the admiration turns into obsession that people forget celebrities have full right to maintain silence or privacy in any particular manner.

Kate’s cancer journey has brought many questions among fans and many are clearly not happy regarding that silence.

When the Princess of Wales revealed she had cancer back in March 2024, it stunned the world. Since then, there’s been a trickle of updates about her health, including the good news that she’s finished chemotherapy and is now in remission.

However, some fans are super curious. The fact that Kate is well now doesn’t seem to end their endless number of question. They feel entitled to know the kind of cancer she went through; the silence around has kept them frustrated.

However, the chances of us getting that complete information might not be possible now, and likely never will be. A spokesperson for Kensington Palace told People, “We will not be sharing any further private medical information. The Princess has a right to medical privacy, as we all do.”

That statement didn’t do much to satisfy royal watchers. In fact, it’s only made the speculation louder.

Speaking to Nicki Swift, communications expert and founder of The Prenner Group, Amy Prenner explained why the palace might be staying quiet. “As someone who’s worked in public relations and communications for years, I can say that the value of privacy skyrockets when you live your life in the public eye, as Kate Middleton does,” she said.

“The world’s attention is relentless, and every detail, especially about something as personal as a cancer diagnosis, can quickly become fuel for speculation, gossip, and even misinformation.”

It’s a valid point, but that hasn’t stopped people from digging. A physician interviewed by TMZ back in 2024 suggested Kate might have been dealing with ovarian or uterine cancer, especially since her cancer was discovered after abdominal surgery. But without confirmation, other possibilities have also been floated, including stomach, colon, pancreatic, and even liver cancers.

On Reddit, fans haven’t been holding back. They are clearly frustrated over the lack of clarity. Others have even accused Kate of faking her illness or claimed the palace is hiding something. This is unbelievable. People have smart phones in their hands and internet theories is a daily deal. Still, people shouldn’t forget to dig into such sensitive matters, especially after there has been silence.

One person wrote, “It’s crazy they still have not said what type of cancer. Very suspicious.” Another person wrote, “Shady sh*t most likely.”

Accusing someone to fake cancer? That’s cruelty, that’s a new low.

“Part of it is human nature,” Prenner told Nicki Swift, commenting on the public’s intense curiosity. “We feel connected to public figures, especially those we admire… Social media and 24/7 news coverage only deepen that illusion.”

We understand why people feel so invested. Kate has been a central figure in the royal family for years, and many have watched her journey from a distance with admiration. But as Prenner put it, “This curiosity can sometimes cross the line, turning into a sense of entitlement to every detail.”

That’s the point. Instead of celebrating she is good health now, people are going full-on with their questions and even accusing her. Such actions speak a lot about someone’s character.

That’s why Kate’s approach of keeping details private but still showing up in a thoughtful way, has been praised by experts in communications. Prenner called Kate’s video message a textbook case of how public figures can take control of their narrative. “Public figures can […] be selective about what they post on social media,” she said.

At the heart of it all, Prenner said, “Setting boundaries isn’t about shutting people out; it’s about self-preservation. … And honestly, that’s something we should all respect.”

So, while many might still have questions, it looks like the palace, and Kate, are holding their ground.
