Israel launched large-scale airstrikes across Iran, targeting nuclear and military facilities in Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan, and Tehran. Dozens of Iranian military personnel, IRGC leaders, and scientists were reportedly killed on June 13, 2025.  Donald Trump launched an attack on Tehran’s key nuclear sites this weekend, joining Israel in the most significant Western military action against Iran, which has been America’s dire enemy for decades.

Dubbed Operation Midnight Hammer, the American military under Donald Trump’s leadership launched over two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Isfahan nuclear site, coinciding precisely with the B-2 bombers’ silent entry into Iranian airspace on June 21, 2025.  Following the bombing, Iran instantly retaliated with missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar (Al Udeid) on June 23; no casualties were reported, and all missiles were intercepted.

Trump announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran on June 23, just days after the infamous attack under Operation Midnight Hammer. The surprise announcement came via Trump’s Truth Social account. Donald Trump’s ceasefire announcement came with a five-word plea: “Please do not violate it!”

Yet at the time of the post, neither Iran nor Israel had formally confirmed their participation in any peace agreement. Iran later claimed that the ceasefire had been “imposed” on Israel, though it said it had accepted the terms. Hours later, Israel officially announced it had agreed, stating that it had “achieved the objectives” of its military campaign.

Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire,” read the government’s statement. “Israel thanks President Trump and the United States for their support in defense and for helping eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat.”

Reportedly, Trump called the conflict a 12-day war. and praised both nations for their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in ending it. He wrote, “This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t—and never will.”

On a different note, it is a known fact that America has provided naval and aerial support to Israel on multiple occasions since October 2023, and both countries have established a close alliance since 1960. While other countries like Germany, the UK, and France also maintain close relations with Israel, the United States happens to be one of the nation’s most powerful supporters.

Meanwhile, Iran is currently purely anti-America, and Trump and the two countries’ relations have been bitter for ages, especially after Trump’s 2020 order to kill Qassem Soleimani, commander of Iran’s elite Quds Force. In addition, amidst the Iran-Israel conflict, Donald warned Iran in a chilling statement on June 17, 2025, that if Iran were to assassinate him, the country would face destruction.

“If they did that, they would be obliterated,” Trump told reporters while signing a new executive order to increase US pressure on Tehran. “I’ve left instructions—if they do it, they get obliterated. There won’t be anything left.”

While it remains unknown if Donald Trump’s words remain concrete owing to his unproven expertise in wars, just like how he claimed several statements during India and Pakistan’s conflict, where a terrorist attack took place on April 22 in Pahalgam, a town located in India-administered Kashmir, and killed 25 Indians who were mere tourists.

The attacks were said to be carried out by the wanted Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), a Kashmir-focused terrorist group from Pakistan. At the same time, the opposition denied India’s claims. India retaliated and launched  “Operation Sindoor” as a response to the Pahalgam attack, targeting what it terms as “terrorist infrastructure” in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Jammu and Kashmir. On May 10, the U.S. announced that India and Pakistan agreed to a rapid ceasefire and to begin talks on broader issues. After several negotiations, Donald Trump claimed credit for brokering the truce. At the same time, India rejected third-party mediation, preferring to frame the ceasefire as a bilateral judgment.

Even though Donald Trump supported India’s condemnation of terrorism, he allegedly acted as a peacemaker. He did not talk much about it to the media and portrayed the situation otherwise. Therefore, this instance proves that America has been more of an opportunist at this point, and hence, nothing can be trusted in terms of the Iran-Israel conflict either.
