Donald Trump is no stranger to giving rise to wild rumors about himself and his activities. From the bizarre theory of Trump being a time traveler to more serious theories about his declining health, the list of speculations surrounding Trump is endless.
The newest addition to this list of wild speculations has followed after Trump’s appearance at NATO. Netizens claimed that Trump looked significantly shorter in the pictures of him along with other attendants at NATO with King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
Trump’s height has already been a subject of speculation and he has even been accused of lying about his height. However, in the picture in question, netizens pointed out, he looked shorter than he generally does. This had led to people claiming that the person at NATO was not Trump and rather his body double, a ‘mini Trump’.
With this wild theory steadily gaining momentum, high-profile security expert Will Geddes has weighed in on the topic in his conversation with Tyla. With his 30 years of experience in the social security sector, Geddes himself has served as a body double in the past and according to him, there was no possibility of Trump using a body double for such a high profile meeting.
He further explained that body doubles are generally used for ‘journey management’, meaning if a highly important figure like Trump has to move from one place to another and there are chances of some kind of ambush or other risks on the way, then a body double can be used to ensure safety.

Explaining it further, Geddes said, “The reason why you would utilize a decoy is if you feel that security could be possibly compromised. So, if you’re moving through a high risk environment or you’re at a particularly high level of threat and you want to make sure that you are confusing the potential enemy.”
However, as mentioned by Geddes, attending NATO is a big responsibility as Trump had to interact with other leaders and therefore the question of using a body double for the same does not arise.
Talking about the same, Geddes said, “So for Donald Trump, at something like the NATO summit, he would never ever utilize a body double. All of the people that he meets with, or at any event where there’s going to be people that know him, they would spot it in a second. As much as we love films like Face Off and Mission Impossible, it’s impossible to pull that off.”

Addressing the height discrepancy that led to these rumors, the security expert said that it might be a camera angle issue, adding, “You know, he is tall, but it all comes down to the framing of the picture and how the footage has been taken.”
He further explained, “So it could have been taken from a higher aspect by either someone in a location which is above, or maybe they’re particularly tall themselves, or they’re holding the camera above their hair to get over a crowd to look at a particular principle – and that can give you an inaccurate representation of height.”
Geddes’ take on the whole thing makes sense because Trump would lose his credibility if the leaders attending NATO figured out that it was not him and a body double. It would have been too much of a risk, which someone like Trump, a seasoned politician, is unlikely to take.
