All eyes are on William, the Prince of Wales, as he continues to captivate hearts. The royal member of the family has indeed bridged the distance between Buckingham Palace and the people, since his outlook is everything more than just a show of hand from afar.

Managing his duties as the next-in-line monarch, the 45-year-old has also been greatly upholding his position as a great husband and an affectionate father to three kids. Amid the growing anticipation of William being the next king after his father, Charles, the former recently opened up about his plans of taking up this next big role.

Well, William will be making a rather rare television appearance in the upcoming episode of the talk show The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy. His chat in the show will feature some unfiltered conversations, where the Prince of Wales will reveal unheard anecdotes from his life, including discussing his wife Kate Middleton, his father King Charles III‘s shocking cancer diagnosis and treatment. Moreover, audiences will also get a peek as William opens up on the lesser-known box of childhood memories.

During one such conversation with the host, William will reveal that becoming a king is not something that he thinks about every day after waking up in the morning. He acknowledges the sad reality that such an honorary position will inevitably be handed over to him, but only after his father and the reigning king Charles pass away. However, William still has some aspirations about the kind of monarch he would like to be in the future.

William expressed that being his true, authentic self is a trait that drives him at all times. He mentioned, “But if I’m not true to myself and I’m not true to what I stand for and believe in, then it kind of doesn’t really matter who you are. It gets lost.” Moving on, the Prince of Wales added that as a monarch, all he wants to do is create a world where his 12-year-old son George and the next-in-line king after him can be proud of.

Moreover, he firmly highlighted the need for not repeating the past mistakes and creating a complex situation for his children, in which he and his brother Harry had grown up, according to a report by The Mirror

In William’s words, “I want to create a world in which my son is proud of what we do and a world and a job that does impact people’s lives for the better. That is caveated with I hope we don’t go back to some of the practices in the past that you know, Harry and I had to grow up in, and I’ll do everything I can to make sure we don’t regress in that situation. I think it’s safe to say that change is on my agenda. Change for good. And I embrace that, and I enjoy that change. I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me. The idea of being able to bring some change. Not overly radical change, but changes that I think need to happen.”

The show, which will air on Apple TV+, will also feature Prince William taking a walk around Windsor Castle along with the Canadian actor, where the former would reflect on the historic past associated with the place. William expressed how the past tends to haunt and weigh down the present if one is not careful enough. But for him, it is all about living in the present and not being too attached to the past.

William said, “I think it’s important to live for the here and now. But also, I think if you’re too intrinsically attached to history, you can’t possibly have any flexibility because you worry that the chess pieces moved too much, and therefore, no change will happen. I like a little bit of change. I want to question things more, that’s what I’m saying. I think it’s very important that tradition stays, and tradition has a huge part in all of this.”
