One woman’s now-viral refusal to answer a question about him during a medical exam has struck a chord online, garnering both laughs and praise for her firm stance.
Usually, when healthcare professionals evaluate a person’s cognitive function, they often ask routine orientation questions such as “Where are you?”, “What year is it?” and notably, “Who is the President of the United States?” Yet, in a post by TikToker @funnyphilduck, a grandmother, referred to affectionately as “Mamma Shirl,” refused to say the name of the President.
Mamma Shirl stays silent and stone-faced during the examination. When encouraged at least to say the first letter of the President’s name, she finally breaks her silence with one resolute word, “Never.” As per sources, the caption in the TikTok update reads, “My grandmother would rather be deemed mentally incompetent than answer the question ‘Who is the President of the United States?” followed by three laughing emojis
In the one-minute clip, two women can be heard gently trying to get Mamma Shirl to answer. But the “cool granny” held firm and meekly responded, “I don’t like him. Name or no name, I don’t like him.”
Besides, a nurse sitting nearby is seen laughing so hard she hides her face behind a clipboard. Although the details about the cognitive evaluations were not disclosed, she did make everyone in the medical room have a good laugh. Despite the voice off-camera continuing to roll while she was urged to answer the question, Mamma Shirl showed no interest, and when asked again if she would at least say the President’s first name, her blunt response was “Nothing.”
As people around her kept laughing, she added, “Sorry, but that’s my feelings.” Social media comments were in Grandma’s favor. People pointed out that the fact that she refused to say the name showed that she knew the answer and, hence, had concise and healthy mental clarity. Medical professionals chimed in, too, pointing out that her pointed dislike for Donald Trump was a stark indication of sound cognitive function, not confusion.
The clip now has more than 600,000 views on the popular streaming platform TikTok. A lot of anti-Trump supporters could relate to the video of Mamma Shril’s response, and no one seemed bothered by her choice not to say his name or be vocal about her dislike towards the 79-year-old. This video comes amidst a very fragile and chaotic political scenario in America.
With immigration protests in Los Angeles and outrage over Trump’s mass deportation policies on one side, and America mediating the Iran-Israel war with counterattacks to Iran, as it launched Operation Midnight Hammer, the administration is dealing with a lot on its plate.
Iran soon retaliated to the attack with missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar (Al Udeid) on June 23, which was another major event that shook the scene.

A few days ago, on June 27, Donald Trump claimed, without offering evidence, that Democrats were responsible for leaking classified information about their attack in Iran; while that is still under investigation, the Republican Party is now adamant about passing the “Big Beautiful Bill”( benefits include tax cut, new grant funds etc.) before July 4, despite its negative reviews from the citizens and controversial stance. (The bill has crossed its first critical stage in the Senate and is awaiting the next part, thanks to its supporters.)
The entire political scenario seems like a movie at his point, with too many simultaneous events altogether, more like a hot cup of tea that hasn’t finished brewing. A lot of people like Mamma Shril dislike Donald Trump, his policies, his public conduct, and his decisions ( like mostly rejecting liberal policies).
