Recent weeks have been dominated by Lauren Sanchez and her impending nuptials to Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, as everyone looks forward to their “I do” in Venice. Many people don’t know the mother of three’s true personality behind closed doors, even though she is well-known and shares details of her life online.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, her old closest friend Debbie Matenopoulos spoke well of Lauren, stating that the two quickly became friends after meeting in the early 2000s. Before being dismissed in 1999, Debbie co-hosted The View. She then relocated to Los Angeles to work at Fox’s Good Day Live.
“Lauren and I go back way back,” she shared. “Lauren was on Good Day LA, so she was on from 7 am to 9 am. I was on from 9 am to 10 am with the same set, same dressing rooms, everything.” “So, when I first moved to LA, Lauren became my good friend from work, and we would go out and have cocktails and we hung out all the time,” the cookbook author added.
She clarified that the helicopter pilot had even tried out for her part on The View and needed to vent before their friendship progressed. “When they fired me from The View, they had [Lauren] come in as part of the ‘Let’s find a new host’ [search],” Debbie said.
“So that’s kind of how we were connected. When I got to LA, she was like, ‘I need to tell you something – after they fired you, I went and auditioned for your job,’ and then we became friends.” “She goes, ‘Yeah it was a tough spot to be in.’ I’m like, girl, you don’t know [the half of it]!” she quipped.

Debbie lavished Lauren with admiration, stating that her remarkable character had sustained her throughout her life. She is one of the hardest workers,” the TV personality shared. “She always was prepared. She always looked amazing, and she did her own makeup. I mean, she’s really a girl’s girl. She’s somebody that I think you’d always want in your corner. She’s a very cool girl. She’s super smart.”
Through mutual friends, the two stayed in touch even though they “lost track of each other” over time. “We’d always stay in touch with our makeup artist, who we’d had for a long period. ‘Tell Lauren I said hi,’ I would say,” Debbie told the magazine.

Debbie’s flattering remarks are made just days before Lauren, who has been engaged to the world’s third richest man for more than two years, is about to tie the knot. Although there aren’t many specifics available about their wedding, officials in Venice have confirmed that the ceremony will take place in their city, and hundreds of guests are anticipated to arrive in the days ahead.
In an interview with TMZ, Lauren’s brother Paul revealed that the big day will be “like a Princess Di thing” in its grandeur. His words, “I’m thrilled beyond belief,” were extra. “The event is going to be incredible. It will be entertaining and star-studded.
