Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are gearing up for a fancy, three-day wedding bash in Venice that’s rumored to cost as much as $11 million. But what everyone’s buzzing about isn’t the swanky location or who’s invited; it’s the prenup. Yes, the good old pre-wedding contract that’s been holding things up for over a year.

The prenup is because Jeff’s worth $220 billion, and he’s keen on not going through another expensive split like the one with MacKenzie Scott back in 2019, which left her with Amazon stock worth $38 billion.

As per Nicki Swift, this prenup is so ironclad that it’s getting more attention than the bubbly. While the couple seems to be all smiling in public, the real drama might be in the nitty-gritty details of their legal agreement. They’re very close to tying the knot, but let’s hope the lawyers don’t throw a wrench in their plans at the last minute.

An inside source told the Daily Mail in 2024, “Jeff is so crazy about her that he would get married tomorrow if he could”, but his legal team won’t budge until that prenup is sorted out.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos’ Bulletproof Clausebook for Lauren Sanchez

Well-known celebrity attorney Alphonse Provinziano revealed to Radar Online that Jeff Bezos wasn’t looking for any old prenup. He wanted one that was bulletproof, something that could “survive any legal challenge.”

For someone with fingers in pies as diverse as space travel, online shopping, and newspaper publishing, as Jeff has, protecting his wealth isn’t a walk in the park. It requires a detailed account of his assets, worth, and legal standing.

Provinziano explained, “Technically, it’s not the dollar figure that makes it difficult (…) it’s the sheer complexity.” Considering Jeff’s sprawling businesses (like his space company Blue Origin, owning The Washington Post, and let’s not forget those vast real estate holdings), crafting a prenup like this could take ages, possibly months or even years to get right.

However, even though the lawyers closely monitor Lauren Sanchez’s claims, Bezos is not holding back on the wedding. He and his soon-to-be wife plan to tie the knot on his massive $500 million yacht from June 24 to 26. They will sail around Venice with a guest list that includes a who’s who of Hollywood: Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom, the Kardashians, and even Ivanka Trump.

It will be showing off their wealth and being careful about how it looks. But there’s bound to be some negative talk about it.

Romance in Venice, But Protests in the Air

While Jeff Bezos is getting ready to tie the knot on a fancy yacht in Italy, he’s stirring up drama beyond the romance. People in Venice are not exactly rolling out the red carpet for him. They’ve taken to the streets to show their frustration. Led by a group called No Space for Bezos, many are waving signs and speaking about his arrival as bad news.

They’re worried that having Jeff Bezos around will speed up gentrification. Plus, they think his fancy boat and all the attention it brings could harm the environment and put even more pressure on their already over-touristed city.

One of the protesters, Federica Toninello, spoke to the BBC and said, “People like Bezos, who represent a future we don’t want and a world we don’t want to live in, are not welcome here.”

They unfurled a giant banner from the top of St. Mark’s bell tower to get their message across.

Even with all the protests, Venice’s mayor, Luigi Brugnaro, isn’t taking it all in stride. He’s chuffed and said, “It’s an honor that they chose Venice,” and even went so far as to call Jeff Bezos “such an important person.” Interestingly, 80% of the fancy wedding provisions come from local businesses. It could be a gesture to integrate with the culture, or just smart PR.

As for where the wedding’s happening, it’s all hush-hush. But if the rumors about the prenup are anything to go by, Jeff and Lauren’s big day might be more about business than a fairytale romance.
