Before she was Mrs. Jeff Bezos, globe-trotting on private jets and planning million-dollar wedding in Venice, Lauren Sanchez was a familiar face in Los Angeles homes as a news anchor on “Good Day L.A.” From 2011 to 2017, viewers tuned in for her lively, charismatic on-air presence that made her a local star.
But let’s just say a lot has changed since those days on the morning desk, especially Sanchez’s look.
Old footage from her time on “Good Day L.A.” has resurfaced, giving everyone a fascinating before-and-after of her dramatic transformation over the years. One clip from February 2012 shows Sanchez delivering the forecast in a bright red dress with a chunky black belt. The plunging neckline was classic Lauren, always happy to flaunt her beautiful curves.
While she was all smiles at the news desk, it was also the perfect angle to see the earliest version of her on-camera appearance. Back then, if there were any cosmetic tweaks, they were subtle, practically invisible next to her future look. A close-up side shot revealed a nose with a noticeably different shape, more natural-looking cheeks, and lips that hadn’t yet gone full Hollywood.
By April 2012, there was still plenty of natural beauty to appreciate. In one clip from that month, she wore a baby-blue minidress that showed off her figure, fuller than it would be in later years. Her face looked softer and more rounded, with her jawline appearing natural and unsculpted. At that stage, any cosmetic interventions were minimal enough to be blink-and-you-miss-it subtle.
Lauren was much prettier before the plastic surgery.

Over time, however, the transformations became much more obvious. Even in her final year at “Good Day L.A.” in 2017, Sanchez’s appearance hadn’t reached the “final form” we know today. One clip from October that year shows her reading a serious story at the news desk. Her eyebrows were a little more pronounced, but nothing like the ultra-dramatic arch they’d take on later.
Then came her big return. In September 2024, Sanchez was back on “Good Day L.A.” to promote her spaceflight with Blue Origin. But this time, she brought a very different face with her. Her nose appeared smaller and rounder, her cheeks fuller, and her lips far plumper. Her forehead was tighter, which made her eyebrows even more striking. And let’s not forget the giant hair extensions that would make Rapunzel jealous.
Viewers noticed. The segment was uploaded to YouTube, where people didn’t hold back. “I’m having flashbacks to Jack Nicholson’s Joker,” one troll wrote. Another comment read, “If you aren’t good at school you can always have plastic surgery.” Brutal, but undeniably classic internet.
She was such a pretty girl. I’m not against plastic surgery, however, she took it to the extreme. IMO#LaurenSanchez #JeffBezoswedding #JeffBezos pic.twitter.com/I0hMlknAEi

To get a professional opinion on the change, Nicki Swift reached out to Dr. Joel Kopelman. Comparing the before-and-after photos, Kopelman didn’t mince words. “Firstly, there’s a clear improvement in the jawline and neck area, which leads me to believe she might have had a facelift, or at least a mini facelift,” he observed. He also suggested, “cheek implants or fillers” were likely part of the mix.
Lauren Sanchez’s transformation from local news anchor to billionaire Jeff Bezos’ wife is one for the history books, and the plastic surgery textbooks, too.
