Prince Harry and Meghan Markle weren’t exactly on the best of terms with the late Queen Elizabeth. A royal member recently revealed how the Queen was “saddened” by the couple’s behavior. The claim contrasts with the image that the Sussexes have maintained to date.

Harry and Meghan have assured the royal fans time and time again that they were on perfectly amicable terms with Queen Elizabeth II until the end. The couple couldn’t claim the same about their relationship with the rest of the family members.

Harry and Meghan moved to California in 2020 after stepping down as working royals. That marked the beginning of the Sussexes’ extremely strained relationship with the royal family. Things escalated drastically when Harry published his tell-all memoir Spare in 2023.

Several reports suggested that the Prince’s relationship with his brother William and father Charles has hit an all-time low. Kate Middleton was reportedly saddened by the rift between the two brothers.

Throughout their fallout with the royal family, Harry and Meghna maintained that their relationship with the Queen had not taken a hit and remained unchanged. Lady Elizabeth Anson, who was the Queen’s cousin, had to say otherwise on the subject.

The royal revealed that the late Queen was extremely “saddened” after an argument that took place between her and Harry. Before the wedding, a tense environment was created after Meghan allegedly refused to reveal any details about her wedding gown.

During the argument, Prince Harry allegedly disrespected his grandmother. The Spectator had previously claimed that the relationship between the couple and the Queen had soured.

The outlet alleged that their relationship had worsened despite the couple making royal fans believe otherwise. A source spoke to Radar Online to reveal what the Queen said about the Sussexes a month before her death.

“It was out of character for the Queen…but she saw straight through Meghan,” the insider shared. The source also claimed that the queen told a group of people at a dinner in Balmoral that Harry and Meghan were becoming a “complete catastrophe.”

The Queen’s statement came almost a year after Harry and Meghan had stepped down as working royals. The Queen had previously addressed the couple’s exit from the family while wishing them luck. “Harry, Megha, and Archie will always be much-loved members of my family,” Queen Elizabeth said in a statement.

Lady Elizabeth Anson, also known as Lady Eliza, shared how she was skeptical about Meghan’s feelings towards the Prince. “We hope but don’t quite think she is in love,” she shared. The Queen’s cousin went on to claim that she thought Meghan had “engineered” the whole thing.

Lady Eliza also shared how the Queen had grown “very worried” when Harry and Meghan’s wedding date was near. She also claimed that Harry constantly disregarded traditional royal protocols, which again led to the Queen feeling saddened.
