Donald Trump has taken a jab at Governor J.B. Pritzker, but not in the most dignified way possible. Pritzker, who is the governor of Illinois and rising to prominence in the Democratic Party, hasn’t shied away from criticizing the President in the past.
J.B. Pritzker has openly labelled Trump as an unchecked “authoritarian” in the past. “I think everybody understands that at this point, we’ve got an authoritarian in office,” he noted during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
The Governor also pointed out how nobody can put a stop to Trump as he tears apart “things that really matter” to American working families.
Trump seems to have his share of jabs that he wanted to point at the governor. The President labelled Pritzker as the “worst governor in the country.” In true Trump fashion, he also body-shamed the Democrat by referring to him as “big JB.”
“The governors of New York and Illinois. The big JB is going nowhere,” the 78-year-old said in a conversation with reporters at the Capitol. Pritzker has similarly been critical of Trump and his policies. The Democrat has slowly gained popularity and is highly likely to be picked as the candidate for the 2028 Presidential run.
J.B. Pritzker hasn’t even hesitated to openly criticize the Democratic Party. The Illinois Governor has pointed out how crucial it is for the Democrats to recover from their November 2024 loss.
He added how Democrats need to actively avoid falling for the “trap” they fell into in 2024. Pritzker warned his fellow Democrats to stop “responding to everything that the Republicans say, given the way they twist things.” He also added how there is no good answer to the Republicans’ often-used jab, “Have you stopped beating your wife?”
What the president has tried to do in the last 24 hours is illegal.
His actions threatened millions of Illinoisans’ access to health care, food, and even fuel to heat their homes. I will stay vigilant in defense of IL because if you come for my people, you come through me. pic.twitter.com/3hMbp0Amov

Pritzker has been very vocal about his resistance to Trump’s policies. Immediately after Trump was re-elected as the President, the governor reassured the marginalized groups that he would stand with them. He noted that any attacks made against abortion rights, immigration, and LGBTQ+ rights would be countered by him. “You come for my people, you come through me,” he declared days after the election results were announced.
The Illinois Governor has also reportedly criticized Trump and his aggressive deportation policies. While doing this, he has become one of the few faces in the Democratic Party who have openly opposed the deportations so aggressively.
“Why is Donald Trump kicking out law-abiding, tax-paying people who have been here 10 and 20 years and raised a family here?” the Governor raised the question. He went on to question why this group of people is being picked on and kicked out of the United States.
JB Pritzker’s reckless call for “mass protests” and to “fight everywhere” against Trump’s “authoritarianism” is a dangerous escalation of political rhetoric. Urging disruption without emphasizing peace, he’s pouring gas on an already volatile climate—rhetoric like this fuels… pic.twitter.com/1qqnP3dUAx

“If you had proper immigration laws, you would want them to come to this country,” the Democrat noted. He went on to note how the immigrants play a crucial part in filling out jobs.
Pritzker previously called the President a “narcissist” and accused him of behaving like a “fifth-grader.” Another time, the Illinois governor said Trump was “rich in stupidity.” The Democrats’ harshest comment came when he compared Trump and his administration’s actions with Hitler’s.
