Donald Trump vs Elon Musk

Elon Musk and Donald Trump’s bromance has officially gone from cozy Oval Office photo-ops to a messy, all-out online brawl.

Not too long ago, Musk was Trump’s favorite tech billionaire. Remember those “TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING” caps? But those days seem like ancient history now.

The two have been throwing digital punches over Trump’s so-called “big, beautiful bill,” with Musk branding it a “disgusting abomination” and vowing to “fire all politicians” who supported it. He even dropped the bombshell claim that Trump’s name was in the Jeffrey Epstein files, though he later walked that one back with a sheepish admission that he might’ve gone “too far.”

And just when it looked like Musk and Trump might cool off, things escalated again. Trump issued a pretty serious threat against Musk after the Tesla CEO launched yet another attack on his controversial bill.

But Musk didn’t stop at policy. He also decided to fan the flames of one of the weirder conspiracy theories swirling online about the President; Trump’s supposed “body double.”

Last month (June 5), Musk posted a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter) of three old tweets from Trump’s official account, dating back over a decade.

The first tweet was from January 2013, “I cannot believe the Republicans are extending the debt ceiling – I am a Republican & I am embarrassed!”

Musk captioned it,  “Wise words.”

The second tweet, from July 2012, read, “No member of Congress should be eligible for re-election if our country’s budget is not balanced – deficits not allowed!”

Musk slapped the “💯” emoji on it and added, “I couldn’t agree more!”

But it was the retweeted caption that really made people’s eyebrows shoot up. “Where is the man who wrote these words? Was he replaced by a body double!?”

That last line sent the internet into overdrive, adding fuel to an already oddball conspiracy theory that had started bubbling up after people studied official NATO summit photos. Some eagle-eyed internet detectives were sure Trump looked shorter than usual in the images, convinced a “mini Trump” or body double had been sent in his place.

Of course, this theory sounds straight out of a B-movie script. And security expert Will Geddes was happy to set the record straight. With over 30 years in the Specialist Security sector, he explained that body doubles or decoys are only used for what’s called “journey management,” basically moving high-profile people safely from one spot to another.

faWhen it comes to something as public and important as a NATO summit, where Trump would be interacting face-to-face with other world leaders? “A body double would ‘never ever be used,’” Geddes clarified.

But facts don’t always slow the internet down. And Musk’s cheeky question was enough to keep the conspiracy mill churning, proving once again that when it comes to Trump vs. Musk, the drama is very much alive, and showing no signs of ending anytime soon.
