Elon Musk ‘regrets’ some of his posts, seemingly apologizing for his highly public altercation with his former close ally Donald Trump. Posting on his own social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the billionaire wrote: “I regret some of my posts about President Donald Trump last week. They went too far.”
Some social media users questioned whether he would be delighted to collaborate with Trump once more, while others questioned whether he was hacked. Musk’s outspoken criticism of Trump’s “big beautiful bill” that is still pending on Capitol Hill last week marked the beginning of the dramatic break between the president and the richest man in the world. Musk has referred to the plan as a “disgusting abomination” and warned that it will raise the federal deficit.
“I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore,” Musk posted on X. “This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it.”
Musk’s unfounded accusations that the government was concealing information on the president’s connections to infamous p-dophile Jeffrey Epstein and his suggestion that Trump should be impeached caused tensions to rise. Musk appeared to have deleted his tweets on Epstein by Saturday morning.
In a phone conversation with NBC‘s Kristen Welker prior to Musk’s most recent humble apologies, Trump stated that he has no plans to make amends with Musk. Trump responded, “I would assume so, yeah,” when asked if he thought his relationship with the multibillionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla was over.
❗Time for a really big retreat and apology

“I’m too busy doing other things,” Trump added. “You know, I won an election in a landslide. I gave him a lot of breaks, long before this happened, I gave him breaks in my first administration, and saved his life in my first administration, I have no intention of speaking to him.”
The president sent forth a warning amid rumors that Musk would back Democratic candidates in the 2026 midterm elections. Trump said in the NBC interview, “If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that,” without going into detail about what those costs would be. Many lucrative federal contracts go to Musk’s businesses.

In an interview, Vice President JD Vance made an effort to downplay the issue. He called Musk an “emotional guy” who was only venting his aggravation, but he admitted that Musk was making a “huge mistake” by criticizing Trump. “I’m hoping Elon will eventually rejoin the group. Vance said, “Maybe that’s not feasible now because he’s gone so nuclear.”
In addition to calling Musk an “incredible entrepreneur,” Vance commended Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency for its success in cutting government spending, even though it led to thousands of forced departures or layoffs.
Vance’s interview was conducted last Thursday amid a barrage of contentious remarks from Musk on his own social media network, X. During the discussion, Theo Von showed the vice president Musk’s claim that Trump’s government has suppressed Epstein records because they implicate Trump.
