Maternal love is on Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’s side even if the world might not be. The rapper, who is fighting serious allegations in court, was heard confessing his love for his mother. Janice, who has stood by her son through the trials, was present in the courtroom during the moment.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ bond with his mother is not unknown to the world. The mother-son duo has been close throughout the rapper’s career. He once gifted her a brand-new car as a birthday present. He even gifted her a $1 million check on the occasion of her turning 80.
The disgraced star, who has been accused of several crimes, professed his love to his mother during the recent courtroom trial. The rapper reportedly mouthed, “I love you, mommy” to Janice as he entered the room.
The mother of the rapper has previously empathized with him in an interview with CNN. Janice noted how “heartbreaking” her son’s situation was. “It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies,” she shared in the interview.
The move seemed to be motivated by the intention of painting a certain picture for the people present in the room. Judi James, who is a body language expert, analyzed the rapper’s courtroom behavior from an expert point of view and shared insight on the same.
The analysis came after Diddy hugged his female attorneys as a way of greeting them. “We don’t know in this case, but the greeting rituals with the defense attorneys are often well choreographed to create a desired effect, especially in high-profile cases,” James shared.

She also noted how the move is often strategic and makes people believe that “someone can be trusted and/or liked.” The expert explained how these small gestures can be used to influence how the jury thinks of an individual. “The more positive the interactions and greeting rituals, the less guilty someone might appear to look,” Judi reveals.
On the other hand, the rapper has been very vocal about his love for his mother in the past. An Instagram story that Diddy posted on Janice’s 80th birthday features him calling her a “hero.” The rapper adds, “Yo, now that’s my hero right there. Ain’t nobody like your mama.”
This isn’t the first time the rapper has shown a display of familial love in court. During a previous appearance, the rapper suddenly pleaded with a random woman in court to relay a message to his son. “Please let Justin know I’m thinking of him,” he was heard saying loudly. He left people even more confused with another declaration of “love” he made during another trial date.

“I love you all,” Combs was heard declaring to nobody in particular. “Yeah. Love,” he repeated to emphasize his previous declaration. His sudden outburst of feelings left spectators questioning his behaviour, with many just appearing confused.
Diddy is currently being accused of several disturbing crimes, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. The rapper was arrested by authorities on 16 September 2024 and has spent the 8 months following the trial in jail. If convicted, the rapper could be sentenced to a lifetime in jail.
