Troubles for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs don’t seem to end anytime soon. The music mogul, who is facing trial on s—x trafficking charges, couldn’t regulate his behavior during a recent hearing on June 5. Judge Arun Subramanian warned Combs’ attorneys that it was “absolutely unacceptable” and he wouldn’t hesitate to take action against the rapper.
Judge Subramanian scolded Diddy for ‘nodding’ to the jury, which is a big no-no at the courthouse. During the lunch break, the Judge reminded the disgraced rapper’s legal team, “I was very clear there should be no facial expressions to the jury, and I could not have been clearer.”
“There was a line of questioning where your client was nodding vigorously and looking at the jury,” he added, as per a report by Variety.
“There should be no efforts to have any interactions with this jury,” Judge Subramanian issued the ultimatum. He then asked Combs’ attorney Marc Agnifilo if it would happen again. Marc replied, “No, your honor, it’s not going to happen again.”
“The defendant is the most important person at that table…they have a right to look at the jury if they notice something that can aid their case.”

This wasn’t the first time Diddy reportedly did some gestures during the hearings. The Variety report states that there have been testimonies, including one of Diddy’s former assistant George Kaplan “during which he has peered over at the jurors and nodded.”
Combs reportedly occasionally looks at members of the press and public seated behind him. He also gives “gesture of gratitude to those in the friends and family section.”
The Judge warned that if Diddy breaks the protocol again he would take strict action against him. He reportedly said, “I will give an instruction to the jury or it could result in the exclusion of your client from the courtroom.”
Though it wouldn’t be a big punishment compared to his punishment if found guilty, it would certainly be difficult for him if he is barred from attending future hearings and having to wait in a prison cell while his fate is being decided in the courtroom.
Diddy’s attempts to engage with jurors, press and public via gestures hint that he is still in his “celebrity-zone”. During one of the previous hearings, he was seen declaring to the spectators, “I love you all.” He then asked a woman to pass on a message to his son, Justin Combs.
“Please let Justin know I’m thinking of him,” the rapper reportedly pleaded with the woman.
Some believe that with his attempts to engage with those present in the court, he possibly intends to sway jury’s opinion, potentially jeopardizing the integrity of the trial. Whatever his intentions may be, the Judge has made it clear that Diddy can no longer continue it.

Diddy was arrested in September 2024 on charges of racketeering conspiracy, s—x trafficking, and transportation to engage in pr—stitution. As per the press release by United States Attorney’s Office, it is alleged that “between 2008 and the present, COMBS abused, threatened, and coerced women and others, and led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in s—x trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice, among other crimes.”
His trial began in May this year and is likely to conclude by June end. If found guilty, the 55-year-old accused would most probably spend the rest of his life behind the bars.
