Elon Musk is already getting some extra spotlight because of his recent split from Donald Trump’s government and subsequently calling Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ ‘disgusting.’ Amid all this chaos, a resurfaced video of Musk at Trump’s Bedminster golf club in New Jersey shows him playing with cutlery, which one user had posted on X and said that the tech mogul was on ketamine.
The video shows Musk balancing a contraption that he had made out of spoons while Shivon Zilis, one of the women he has children with looks at him. The video was shot in March and during that time, a user posted the clip on Musk owned social media platform X and captioned it, “Musk playing with his silverware while tripping on ketamine at Bedminster.”

After this post, The New York Times published a report over the weekend that accused Musk of substance abuse while heading the Department of Government Efficiency. The report spun the rumor of Musk’s ketamine usage out of control and one of Musk’s fans came forward to defend him and shared the original post, with the caption, “You don’t need ketamine to make these. I always make them.”
The way this fan addressed the rumor seemed a bit odd. However, the user, named Paul Graham, did not stop there and further added, “Making cutlery towers isn’t evidence that someone’s on drugs. You could take an identical video of me at a dinner.” Elon Musk finally decided to intervene and replied under his fan’s tweet, “I’m not on ketamine ffs [for fuck’s sake].”
You don’t need ketamine to make these. I always make them. In our family we call them “Robert towers,” after Robert Morris, who also makes them. https://t.co/48MDnEipOQ

While it was understandable behavior on Musk’s part since he was being accused of drug usage on his own social media platform, he himself had previously admitted to using Ketamine to help him with depression. He had posted on X, saying, “I have serious concerns about SSRIs, as they tend to zombify people. Occasional use of Ketamine is a much better option, in my opinion. I have a prescription for when my brain chemistry sometimes goes super negative.”
However, the Times report that was brought out over the weekend had claimed otherwise. While it was not certain if he was doing drugs while working with the Trump administration, sources close to him had revealed back in July 2024 that Musk’s ketamine usage was enough to cause bladder issues, which hints at a high amount of consumption and not only for medical purposes.

The Times report also suggested that Musk was allegedly a fan of mushrooms and Ecstasy. The report further mentioned, “And he traveled with a daily medication box that held about 20 pills, including ones with the markings of the stimulant Adderall, according to a photo of the box and people who have seen it.”
While Musk did not add any follow up comments on the post claiming that he was not on ketamine, the Times report stands and so does the speculations of Musk’s substance abuse tendencies.
