Baba Vanga was a renowned mystic best known for her predictions. The Bulgarian woman allegedly had the ability to foresee major world events decades before they happened. Here’s everything you need to know about the woman who was compared to French mystic Nostradamus.

Baba Vanga died on 11 August 1996. She was 84 years old at the time. The mystics have made prophecies related to wars, natural disasters, advancements in the world that would happen decades later, and even the deaths of noteworthy figures.

The mystic who was born as Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova lost her eyesight during her childhood. She claimed that visions of the future started coming to her after a certain point in life. Baba Vanga shared how her ability to see the future came after she survived a violent storm.

Many of Baba Vanga’s predictions to date have come true. Followers of the mystic still treat her predictions from decades ago as warnings. Her predictions have detailed global warming and climate change causing havoc around the world. She also predicted wildfires to erupt out of nowhere because of the rising temperatures.

Psychologists have an observation as to why the mystic and her predictions are gaining so much traction in the current day. Dr. Michael Renner, who is a psychologist, shares how people’s behaviour is a part of a bigger pattern. “In times of unpredictability and fear, individuals often seek explanations that provide sense of control,” the expert shares, as per Times of India

Renner goes on to explain how a “sense of validation” builds in believers when a prediction comes true. The expert also notes how “confirmation bias” is a phenomenon that makes people accept prophecies that align with their existing anxieties.

“When an event unfolds that seems to match Baba Vanga’s predictions, it reinforces the belief that there is some greater truth behind her words,” Dr. Michael notes. He adds how the psychological process “strengthens” the appeal these prophecies carry.

Another reason why the late mystic is gaining attention worldwide is due to social media and content creators. Users have taken to TikTok, YouTube, X, and Instagram to spread awareness and start discussions about Baba Vanga’s predictions.

Even though some believe in the mystic’s ability to make eerily accurate predictions about the future. Many experts ask to exercise caution when it comes to believing in the accuracy of them. It has been noted how the cryptic predictions of the mystic can be open to interpretation. The predictions that she has made mostly carry a symbolic language that can be interpreted in several ways to fit the current happenings of the world.

The mystic had predicted the COVID-19 pandemic that caused havoc around the world in 2020. She also foresaw the 9/11 attacks and even the death of Princess Diana. As per more recent events to come, Baba Vanga has predicted a “worldwide economic disaster” to take place in 2025.

People were quick to link Donald Trump and his hefty tariff policies to the disaster to come. The tariffs that Trump has imposed on imported goods vary from 10% to 145%. The mystic believed that a significant event would cause economic turmoil in the world and mark “the beginning of humanity’s downfall.”
