Much to President Donald Trump’s surprise, he ended up losing the Nobel Peace Prize to María Corina Machado on October 10, 2025. Trump had been actively demanding a peace prize ever since he began his second Presidential term.
Donald Trump’s loss was mainly attributed to an online rumor of him being disqualified from the nomination list. In case you missed it, the viral X post came along with a graphic that read, ‘BREAKING: Nobel Committee quietly removes Trump’s name from Peace Prize nominee list.”’
The whirlwind of rumors came to a rest after a context was added to the thread, which read. “The nominations list is private, and not made public until 50 years after it is awarded. The meme said the removal was done ‘quietly,’ yet it also shows what appears to be a headline of an announcement on the Nobel website.” The post was quick to be flagged by the Internet users. “This is of course fake news. Tell him,” read a comment from a netizen.
Meanwhile, the Norwegian Nobel Committee straight up denied the claims, and the communications head of the committee told Newsweek, “The Norwegian Nobel Committee doesn’t make this kind of statement and never disqualified a proposed candidate. There is no public list of nominees. The Nobel Committee does not disclose the names of nominees—neither to the media nor to the candidates themselves.”
In addition to that, Newsweek had also reached out to Associated Press, to enquire about the now-deleted screenshot that was circulating online. AP also dismissed the claims that the aforementioned picture was of a real press release, proving that it was merely fake news.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize Committee explained why Donald Trump wasn’t given one. He said, “I think this committee has seen any type of campaign, media attention. We receive thousands and thousands of letters every year from people wanting to say what for them leads to peace. This committee sits in a room filled with the portraits of all laureates, and that room is filled with both courage and integrity. So we base only our decision on the work and the will of Alfred Nobel.”
“We only give the award to people with courage and integrity.”
That’s what the Chairman of Nobel Peace Prize Committee said when asked why Trump didn’t win the Nobel Peace Prize despite all the shameless begging, campaigning, and self-declared “peace deals.”

Donald Trump has been upset about not receiving a Nobel Peace Prize this year and he has been super vocal about it throughout. He shared one of the reasons why he might have missed out this year, saying, “Now, in all fairness to the Nobel Committee, it was for 2024, and this was picked for 2024. But there are those that say you can make an exception because a lot of things happened during ’25 that are done and complete and great, but I did this not for Nobel, I did this for saving lives.”
Trump, who claims to have brought peace to multiple countries, added, “I mean, we’ve saved millions of lives. Think about India-Pakistan. Think about some of the wars that were going on for years. We had one going for 31, one going for 32, one going for 37 years, with millions of people being killed in every country and I get every one of those done for the most part, within a day.”
