As the summer holiday season takes full swing, TSA is reminding all passengers about the most important rules to follow for their next flights, in particular, the banned items checklist. Carrying these restricted items with you could cause you some trouble at the airport security checkpoints.
As stated by the Transportation Security Administration, the prohibition on these certain items ensures everyone’s safety onboard a plane, as well as prevents any unnecessary mishaps.
Some of the banned items on the TSA checklist are more unusual than others. While knives or any sharp item that could be used as a weapon are strictly restricted, other surprising items on the list include slingshots, rocket launchers, and more.
“TSA incorporates unpredictable security measures, both seen and unseen, to accomplish our transportation security mission,” the agency stated about the restriction.
They added, “Security measures begin long before you arrive at the airport. TSA works closely with the intelligence and law enforcement communities to share information. Additional security measures are in place from the time you get to the airport until you get to your destination.”
Flying somewhere soon? Here’s a tip: Start with an empty bag. It’s the hottest travel trend this season and the best way to make sure a prohibited item isn’t accidentally left in your bag.

So, what are these nine unusual items that you can not carry on your next flight? You’d be surprised to see the list.
British Christmas Crackers
This one sure takes the crown as the most surprising item on the list. if you visited the UK and wish to bring back some leftover Christmas crackers this summer, you might get into trouble at the airports in USA.
This ban applies to both carry-on and check-in bags. A spokesperson from TSA explained, “They are flammable and should not be brought on airplanes.”
Foam Toy Swords
Well, who could have thought that a children’s toy could also get banned from being carried at the airports. The reason behind this ban is to prevent accidental panic as a foam toy sword could easily be mistaken for a real one. Although, you can’t pack it inside your cabin baggage, it’s allowed in your check-in.
