Donald Trump was busy taking an afternoon break a day after flash floods impacted Texas, killing and displacing several people. Rescuers are deployed in the Texas region; meanwhile, more floods are expected as per the weather report.
Flash floods hit Texas after storms in the Kerr County region last Wednesday. The death toll is at 81, with hundreds missing, while the rescue operation is going on. 28 kids were killed by the disaster, including girls, in Camp Mystic, which is a Christian Camp for all girls at Guadalupe River.
Rick McRae, who has been residing in the area for 40 years, says the current scenario is very traumatic since so many lives have been taken, including a daughter of a close friend who was at the camp. People were hoping for Trump to be a bit considerate, but he reportedly went to play golf.
One netizen criticized Trump, enquiring what Trump did when 20 children were washed away by the horrific flood. Furthermore, it was confirmed by Trump’s public diary that he had no public events after 12 pm, so he took a golf break. His location was the Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, as per a report.
According to Trump, he’ll visit Texas later this week since he hasn’t done that yet. His reason was that he’d be in the way; otherwise, he would have done it sooner. He told the reporters, “We wanted to leave a little time. I would have done it today, but we’d just be in their way. Probably Friday.”
Apart from this, he claimed he was in touch with the Texas officials for updates.

He was in contact with the Governor Abbot while Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, was already there. He called the disaster a horrible thing that had happened. Besides, Trump signed a declaration for first responders who’ll have all the resources they need.
People aren’t happy with the way the situation is being handled. It is believed that the whole system was unprepared for the floods and there was a lack of awareness. This may be due to the staff cuts as a result of Elon Musk’s work in the DOGE department. Moreover, sirens were going to be installed in the areas; however, the plan was scrapped.
The area was already prone to flash floods due to its dry dirt-packed areas, so after 12 inches of rain, the catastrophic disaster occurred. The survivors of the flood are speaking about how they had no warning about the floods.

According to the country Judge Rob Kelly, there was not enough data to predict the floods, and it happened suddenly. Another reason was not to worry people with warnings that usually turn out to be minor. The officials did not expect the situation to get worse so quickly.
Central Texas may get more flash floods if heavy rain is still predicted. So far, there has been a huge impact on homes and campgrounds, creating a mess that will take a long time to clear. Some areas were also struck by Hurricane Helene, discouraging people from rebuilding in the region.
