JD Vance is always in the headlines, whether for his fiery public opinions or his unexpected rise in political circles. But politics aside, the Vice President has been a magnet for wild speculation and gossip too; some of it too bizarre to ignore!
Be it weird TikTok conspiracies regarding his divorce or wild makeup theories, the stories about him keep coming. Some are laughable, some provoking enough to raise eyebrows and others downright outrageous.

Here’s a look at the most talked-about rumors, starting with the ones we just can’t ignore.
Rumors Said That Usha Was Divorcing JD Before the Election
Just days before the 2024 election, a viral moment hit TikTok; and it targeted Vance’s marriage. A user by the name of @aubreeeeeeeeey claimed that Usha Vance was in a desperate rush to finalize a divorce before JD assumed the vice presidency. The reason? She believed she wouldn’t be able to walk away once he stepped into the role.

But here’s the kicker. The TikToker used the video to make a point about misinformation. “See how easy that was?” she asked after spinning the tale. Her goal was to prove how quickly false claims could spread with a little creativity and ten seconds of screen time.
The comments were a mix of shock and laughter. Some even admitted that they were initially fooled. Others joked that they’d shared the rumor without realizing it was fake. One user tied it back to a previous rumor, asking, “OK, but who gets the couch?”
Was JD Married Twice Before Usha?
When Vance was officially named as Trump’s running mate, another wild claim came to light. What was it? That he had been married twice before. A Threads post read, “Vance, twice divorced, chastised others for divorcing like changing [underwear].”

It’s true JD has long taken a hard stance on divorce but the claim itself was pure fiction. Multiple users including some of his harshest critics quickly pointed out that JD has only ever been married to Usha. “JD has only married once to Usha! As much as I loathe him, I loathe misinformation and gossip more!” one user wrote. Another added, “Let us not make up stories please — win or lose — do it the right way.”
Even a fact checker from USA Today joined the thread and followed up with JD’s team directly. The response was definitive. “Senator Vance was not married prior to his marriage with Usha,” a spokesperson confirmed.
Did JD Vance Wear Makeup on TV?
One persistent rumor that simply won’t fade is the claim that Vance wears makeup, particularly eyeliner. Internet sleuths began raising eyebrows after a sharp contrast was visible around his eyes during several public appearances. The theory gained traction when a photographer on X claimed they had zoomed in on high-res photos and were convinced: JD was wearing makeup.

Vance’s wife, Usha, clapped back at the speculation in August 2024. “His lashes were all his own,” she insisted and even added with a wink that she was “a little envious.” Still, many weren’t ready to let go of the theory. Speaking exclusively to Nicki Swift, celebrity makeup artist Luna Viola said she couldn’t rule out the possibility of eyeliner on JD’s lower lid, though she felt the upper lash line was likely untouched.
As for JD himself? He’s kept silent. Of course.
The NSFW Couch Rumor That Spiraled Into Internet Infamy
If you missed this one, consider yourself lucky. In July 2024, a post on X lit up the internet with an outrageous (and false) claim. “Can’t say for sure but he might be the first VP pick to have admitted in a NY times bestseller to f—–g an inside-out latex glove shoved between two couch cushions (Vance, Hillbilly Elegy, pp. 179-181).”
Naturally, this story wasn’t in Hillbilly Elegy. Fact-checkers were quick to debunk it. But the rumor didn’t die there. Soon, edited screenshots of a pirated e-book began circulating that showed Vance talking about his past exploits with a couch the night before his wedding. The truth? A user admitted to Snopes that they had doctored the text as part of a hoax.
And their reasoning? “I sent it on the internet to hopefully complete the work of my dark master, Lucifer, the liberator and bringer of forbidden light.” Enough said. False rumor, full stop.
Ozempic Speculation Kicks Off Weight Loss Debate
When JD Vance was announced as Donald Trump’s running mate, his slimmer appearance sparked immediate buzz. “What’s the dosage on his Ozempic?” one X user asked and the speculation took off from there.
JD didn’t dodge the topic. In an interview with the Daily Mail, he addressed the chatter directly. He said, “I haven’t taken any drugs,” he said and added that he’d simply changed his habits and started making healthier choices. “I tend to skip breakfast, whereas before I would have, like, you know, three waffles and scrambled eggs and bacon.” That matched a 2022 campaign ad where Vance was shown cooking a hearty breakfast for his daughter, Mirabel.
Apparently, the effort didn’t go unnoticed by his boss. Daily Mail reported that Trump himself told insiders he’d observed JD’s transformation. According to Trump in Exile by Meredith McGraw, Trump even called Vance a “Handsome son of a b—h” long before they joined forces. Looks like someone’s always had their eye on JD’s glow-up.
From eyeliner theories to satanic internet trolls, the stories surrounding JD Vance are as varied as they are weird. And, that’s a reminder of how quickly rumors can take hold.
