Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s marriage is being scrutinized again. This time, it is in the form of a backhanded compliment directed towards the First Lady. The comment came from Alex Nowrasteh, who praised the FLOTUS for marrying Trump. Here’s everything you need to know about the remark Nowtasteh made, which is grabbing attention on social media.
People have kept a close eye on Melania and Donald Trump’s marriage lately, while divorce rumors have been circulating. The couple got married in 2005 and are co-parents to their only son, Barron Trump.

The two are not strangers to being in the public eye and every one of their interactions being dissected online. Netizens and critics alike are even convinced that the couple’s marriage is on the rocks. Melania’s absence from the White House has definitely not helped the rumor mill from producing vague theories about her dynamic with Trump.
Netizens have continuously claimed that the FLOTUS “hates” her husband in reality, with some claiming that she is “paid” to appear in public with him. A recent snarky comment from Alex Nowrasteh is making netizens turn their heads.
The incident took place at a hearing regarding “Restoring Integrity and Security to the Visa Process.” Jasmine Crockett, who serves as the Texas representative, noted that Melania possessed the “Einstein visa,” which helped her become a citizen of the United States.
Alex Nowrasteh, the Vice President for Economic and Social Policy Studies at the CATO Institute, had much to say on the matter. Nowrasteh did not hold back on mocking the Trumps’ marriage while he gave props to the FLOTUS for marrying the President.
Nowrasteh: I want to defend Melania. Not everyone could marry Donald Trump. I think that’s quite an achievement. She deserves credit for that. Nobody up here could’ve done it pic.twitter.com/oWpwxNiJbL

“Not everyone could marry Donald Trump. I think that’s quite an achievement,” Nowrasteh noted. His statement makes more sense when you consider that the “Einstein visa,” also known as the EB-1, is granted to individuals with extraordinary talent or accomplishment.
“Melania deserves a medal, and maybe a lifetime supply of Valium, for surviving breakfast with Donald Trump every morning,” one user wrote on X (formerly known as X) in response to Nowrasteh’s comment. “Yes, it’s a disgusting job, one no American woman wanted,” another claimed.
“Proving immigrants do the jobs Americans Do NOT Want,” a third quipped. A fourth user claimed that FLOTUS was “paid well.” The same user added, “It’s transactional.”
The theory that Melania is being “paid” to stay married to Trump is one a lot of people believe, despite how far-fetched it seems. All the time that the First Lady has spent away from the White House since the beginning of the year has only fueled the rumors.

Adding fuel to the fire are the couple’s public interactions. Various body language experts have claimed that the FLOTUS’ body language doesn’t exactly exhibit love or even affection towards her husband.
Nicole Moore, a body language expert, previously spoke to The List to analyze Melania’s body language during the recent military parade. The expert notes how Melania’s mouth being pinched while she interacts with her husband could hint towards “dissatisfaction or disgust.”
