Ivanka Trump and Melania Trump‘s relationship has always been a hot topic for the media. As the first lady, Melania has always been close to Donald Trump, but bringing his daughter Ivanka has been competing to be more important to the president. We have all seen videos showing Melania giving a side eye to Ivanka. At dinners and election campaigns, she even went on to sideline Ivanka. She was missing from several group photos.

Ivanka wanted the first lady duties so bad that she took on them gladly when Melania was absent. This was during the first term, and Melania did not approve of this move. After this, she started calling Ivanka ‘The Princess’. It may sound like a cute nickname, but Melania may have given it to show her who the queen is.
Whenever Ivanka is asked publicly about her stepmother, she always has praises for her. In a 2016 interview, she called her a good mother. She further went on to say, “Melania is very smart, she’s very warm, she’s got an incredible heart.” She also said that Melania would make an excellent first lady.
When Melania is asked about her equation with the step kids, she often says there is respect and love. She does not want to replace their mothers. Moreover, she respects their opinions even when they have different approaches.

The two may have good things to say in public, but their views on each other seem to be different when doors are closed. There’s definitely some tension for various reasons, whether it’s powers or duties. The relationship they share with Trump will bring different roles to the two, so there shouldn’t be any competition.
Melania’s previous aide, Stephanie Grisham, wrote in her book that the two don’t see eye to eye, and Melania did call her princess. She states we see a power struggle between the two women.

The two even compare their media coverage and how much attention they can get, whether they are hosting a party or visiting migrant children.
