Ivanka Trump, who happens to be President Donald Trump‘s second child, whom he shares with his first wife, Ivana, is in the news for a distinctive reason. Despite being a part of her father’s administration in 2017, she made a firm decision not to take part in it this time, raising questions about the father-daughter bond.
She publicly maintained that the choice was rooted in her desire to focus on her family. Ivanka married Jared Kushner in 2009, and the couple shares three children. Yet, recent instances hint that Ivanka might not be as close to her father as she is to her father-in-law, Charles Kushner. On May 19, the U.S. Senate confirmed Kushner as the new U.S. Ambassador to France.
As per The List, the next day, Ivanka reposted a congratulatory message from the U.S. Embassy in France to her Instagram Story, writing, “Congratulations, Dad. I am proud of you!” She even included a French translation of the message.
Even though referring to someone’s father-in-law as dad is a common practice, what caught everyone’s eye was how her tone was so vibrant and excited when it came to the story. In contrast, her recent posts featuring Donald Trump don’t mention him by name at all. In a photo carousel from March, in which she’s pictured alongside the president, the caption reads only, “48 hours in DC!”

While she acknowledged Trump’s presidential win, she posted a message saying, “Congratulations to my father on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States!” She continued, “I’m proud of his determination, resilience and commitment to our country.”
Many people on social media pointed out how she was cautious with her words in the post, using father instead of the casual word dad. In addition, Ivanka’s acknowledgement of her biological father appeared more like a plea than a congratulatory message. Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time the popular public personality raised eyebrows about her distant relationship with Donald; back in November, she also threw shade at him on her 43rd birthday with a cryptic birthday wish.
She also sparked public scrutiny after she was spotted wearing blue, which, by the way, is the colour of the opposition party, the Democrats, during the 2024 presidential elections, as people questioned her political stance.

Interestingly, Ivanka also allegedly has a feud with her stepmother, Melania Trump. This feud reportedly began when Donald Trump assumed office in 2016, and tensions between Melania and Ivanka reportedly came to light, driven by an internal power struggle.
As per the Daily Mail, the two clashed over a range of issues — from office space and foreign travel to influence on certain policy matters. In the meantime, Melania delayed her move to Washington and lived in New York as she was waiting for her son Barron to finish school. Ivanka and her husband swiftly moved to the capital and began taking on several duties traditionally associated with the First Lady.

As per sources, Ivanka Trump became comfortable in her role in the administration and chose to rename the “Office of the First Lady” to the “Office of the First Family’, a move that made Melania fume with rage. By 2018, the relationship had become so strained that then-White House Chief of Staff John Kelly was allegedly brought in to mediate between the two and their respective individuals.
In addition, reports claim the former model sees Ivanka as a sense of competition since she is a very successful businesswoman. She graduated from business school in 2004, joined the Trump Organization, and launched a thriving fashion brand that retailed at major outlets like Macy’s. However, Melania, on the other hand, had limited proficiency in English as a second language, and her business ventures, a brief skincare line and jewellery sales on QVC in 2012, did go uphill and gain popularity. Despite Ivanka stepping away from her father’s political administration, Daily Mail said that for Melania, “Ivanka will always be a thorn in her side.”
