The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents allegedly shot and killed a Texas family’s dog, a Rottweiler named Chop, during a raid at their home on September 9. The incident has sparked national outrage and renewed scrutiny of immigration enforcement practices. According to the father of the family, agents who were dressed in plain clothes arrived at their son’s residence in response to a tip regarding undocumented migrants.
The son, who opened the door to the agents, agreed to let them search the home but requested a moment to secure their dog ‘Chop’ in the bathroom. He could allegedly get aggressive or react to meeting strangers, according to the little boy.
According to a report by Tyla, while the son briefly stepped outside to get his identification from a vehicle, the agents reportedly entered the home without waiting. It was at this point, the family alleges, that one of the agents opened the bathroom door, allowing Chop to exit.
“We followed every instruction. We were cooperating. Chop was part of our family,” the father told local station KFOX14. “They opened the door, let him out, and shot him. He bled out on our kitchen floor while no one helped.”
Reportedly, the agent who shot Chop refused to tell the family his name and avoided them following the incident. No migrants were reportedly found at the property. The story began gaining widespread attention after the popular social media page’ We Rate Dogs’ shared it with their millions of followers.
The Facebook post received thousands of comments as it exposed the “ruthless” practices of ICE agents. The detailed update, which was posted earlier this week (October 14), reads: “This is Chop. He was shot and killed by masked assailants in plain clothes who go by ICE. They showed up at his door, looking for migrants after receiving a tip.

People were upset, and they hurled mean comments at the ICE agents and the Trump administration. “We are in the bad place. RIP Chop,” one user said. Another added, “Living in the US seems like a goddamn nightmare,” and a third one added, “I’m begging everyone, never let law enforcement into your home without a warrant. RIP Chop, you deserved better.”
Meanwhile, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) confirmed the incident in a statement to KFOX14. It said that the incident happened at 7:15 am during an investigation into alien smuggling at a residence. It stated that it involved a canine, and the use of force is still under investigation by CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility in accordance with CBP policies.

Donald Trump’s ICE raids, which have been a part of his mass deportation drive, have created havoc like no other. From violent protests in big cities like Los Angeles and Chicago to abrupt deportations of people without proper proof. The ICE has done it all. They targeted an 11-year-old girl in February 2025 during the second week of Trump’s second term after her family was detained while rushing to a Texas hospital.
ICE agents also detained Paramjit Singh, a 48-year-old green card holder living in Indiana, since July 30 for a felony he committed 26 years ago. He has been battling a brain tumor and a heart condition.
His attorney insisted the case was a minor offense and that Singh had already served his sentence. He said there are no active charges, yet ICE is still using the decades-old conviction to justify Singh’s detention. Over 200,000 people have reportedly been arrested by ICE in 2025.
