Wife of Mohamed Sabry Soliman has accused ICE agents of treating her children and her like “animals.” According to the mother of 5, her children were forced to “forced to watch officials rough up” detainees. Here are more details about the alleged mistreatment at the hands of ICE agents.

An Egyptian national was arrested in Colorado at the beginning of the month. The man used a homemade flamethrower and Molotov cocktails to attack people. The man who was identified as Mohamed Sabry Soliman was reportedly staying in the US illegally.

Soliman arrived in the country in 2022 with a tourist visa. He later acquired a work authorization permit after filing for asylum. The Egyptian national’s visa expired in March 2025, which made him an illegal alien.

The man’s wife and 5 children are also were also residing in the U.S. along with him. Following the attack, the whole family is scheduled to be deported by ICE. Hayam El Gamal is now claiming that she and her children are suffering due to the agency’s mistreatment.

The family was detained in the days that followed the attack. El Gamal expressed her “total shock” at her husband’s actions and revealed that the family was “grieving and suffering” after the incident, as per The Mirror.

In a released statement, she also questioned why she and her children were suffering the consequences of her husband’s actions. “Why punish any of us, who did nothing wrong?” she asked. She went on to allege that they were being “treated like animals” by ICE officers.

El Gamal also claimed that the officers “told” them that they were being punished for her husband’s crimes. CNN has previously revealed that Soliman’s family did not play a role in the attack, which he allegedly planned for a year. 14 people reportedly sustained injuries in the same attack.

The mother of 5 and her children were taken into custody by ICE agents on June 3. The family was flown from Colorado to the Dilley Family Detention Center in southern Texas in the middle of the night.

El Gamal claimed that her children were “forced to watch officials rough up” a detainee at the Center. The oldest of the 5 children is 18, and the rest are 4, 4, 7, and 15, respectively. She shared how the children cried uncontrollably, convinced that they would suffer the same fate.

“How much longer will we be here for something we didn’t do?” she questioned. The mother also spoke about how inhumane the conditions of the detention center were. She revealed that the detainees in the center were constantly under supervision and woken up in the middle of the night.

El Gamal shared how her 7 and 15-year-old children would be forced to spend their birthdays in jail soon. “All they want is to be home, to be in school, to have privacy, to sleep in their own beds, to have their mother make them a home-cooked meal, to help them grieve and get through these terrible weeks,” the mother said.

Soliman was charged with a hate crime following the attack he executed. He has also been charged with 118 counts, which include attempted murder, assault in the first and third degrees, and animal cruelty. The bond for him has been set to $10 million in cash.
