In a now viral TikTok video, a White man is shown to be calling 911 while standing with a Black man and two security guards, claiming that he felt unsafe since he was the minority among them. The video, posted by @robertsettles7  shows the man recording it asking the White man to recall when he called him a ‘peasant.’

The White man then, who was standing at some federal building and doing his paperwork said that the man recording the video had touched him. As seen in the video, the White man says, “At your age, how old are you? How old am I? Look how old you are, you have gray hairs. Don’t touch people. Don’t touch people!”

As things started to escalate, a Black female security guard came to the situation to sort it out. The White man then told her that they needed to call the police, saying, “We need the police because he touched me.” The female guard told the man that he could call the police, which seemed to further enrage him as he said, “Get out of my face! Why are you in my face?”

The guard, however, was standing at a distance from the man and she said, “I’m not in your face. You’re causing a disturbance.” At this point, the video shows that the man walked up to a desk phone to call the police. Over the phone, he could be heard saying, “All the security is Black as well, so I don’t feel safe. I’m the minority, and I don’t feel safe.”

He then tells the situation to the dispatcher and leaves the phone on speaker. The dispatcher can be heard saying, “I mean, this is above us. Is there security or something?” To this, the man replied, “Yeah, security’s not doing anything, and I feel violated.”

The situation continued like this for a while before the White man got back to the one recording him, asking him to stop. He told him, “You touched me, I asked you not to. Can you please leave me alone? Can you act your age and the hair color you have? You’re double my age, just leave me alone.”

Another guard joined the fiasco at this point and the Black female guard is shown to be filling him in on the situation and also mentioning that the Black man was called a ‘peasant’ by the White man. The White man finally decided to walk away at this point and his parting words to the group were, “I need to go somewhere else where I can be left alone to do my work. Yeah, and he is a peasant.”

Social media platforms where the video was shared garnered the attention of netizens as one person on TikTok commented under the video, “He calls the police and then continues ragebaiting. There is only one person trying to escalate the situation and that was him.”

The video stands as a proof of how even today, instances of racism are rampant, and how people committing such acts get away, especially when the consequences of their racist actions are not severe.
