Snoop Dogg’s son, whom he had out of wedlock, has a lot to say about the rapper’s biopic. Julian Broadus took to social media to complain about being passed over to play his father in the movie. He also mentioned how “appalling” it was to be rejected thrice in a row.
The rapper’s biopic will be a “definitive biopic about the entertainment mogul and icon.” Johnathan Daviss is set to play the rapper on screen in the Death Row Films production movie.
Snoop Dogg has been played by two other actors previously on screen. LaKeith Stanfield played the part in the 2014 movie Straight Outta Compton. Jarrett Ellis played and then went on to play Snoop Dogg’s role in the 2017 movie All Eyez on Me.
The general consensus of casting Jonathan Daviss has been positive. As soon as the announcement was made, netizens took to Twitter to praise the Outer Banks actor. “Strong actor to do the job. Its not a look-alike contest, it’s an ACTING ROLE,” one wrote. “This is amazing casting,” another added.
Even though the majority of the reactions to the casting were positive, there was one person who strongly disagreed with the decision. Snoop Dogg’s lovechild, Julian Broadus, took to his Instagram account to express his displeasure over the decision.

Snoop Dogg fathered Julian with a woman named Laurie Helmond. Broadus, who is 26, did not hold back while criticizing the casting choices for the upcoming movie. “I’m sure bro looks and acts more like Snoop Dogg than me,” he quipped on his Instagram story, along with a news article with the announcement.
“Look I bit my tongue for that BS they pulled on Straight outta Compton, All Eyez on me & now this rubbish,” he added. Julian went on to add how the “grievance of being bypassed” for the roles has grown as he got “older and wiser” over the years.
He also shared how “appalling” it was to see decisions being made to honor his father. “Real West Coast King stop playing with me this royalty s—t runs deep in my bloodline,” he concluded.
