Elon Musk constantly finds himself under the spotlight not only because of his hugely successful professional life but also because of the kind of personal life he leads. A father of 14 children with 4 different women, Musk has often been criticized for his bad parenting skills both by his offspring and his partners.
Vivian Jenna Wilson, Musk’s estranged daughter, whom he had with Justine Wilson, has been one of the top voices when it comes to criticizing Musk for not following through with his parental responsibilities.
Vivian had publicly come out as a transgender in 2020 and since then Musk has never been supportive of her decisions and has rather been extremely critical of them.
Vivian has appeared to be unbothered by Musk’s behavior as according to her he has never been a good father. In her first proper interview with NBC News in 2024, Vivian talked about her transition journey and also refuted Musk’s claims that he had been tricked into signing off on her gender affirming care when she was younger.
Vivian said, “I think he was under the assumption that I wasn’t going to say anything and I would just let this go unchallenged” as she clarified that her father had clearly read those documents at least twice before he had signed on them.
Musk had also once posted on X saying that Vivian had shown certain feminine and gay tendencies since childhood. Vivian however, pushed back on this comment of Musk’s by posting on Threads, where she said, “He doesn’t know what I was like as a child because he quite simply wasn’t there, and in the little time that he was I was relentlessly harassed for my femininity and queerness.”
Fortunately, Vivian’s mother Justine Wilson has always been very supportive of her. In her second interview in 2025 with Teen Vogue, Vivian mentioned that she regretted not coming out to her mother privately before making the news public on Instagram. She said, “If I were to do it again, she deserves to be the first one to know.”

In the same interview, Vivian talked about her decision to come out as a transgender, saying, “There was one night, it was 11:00 p.m., and I was like, I know for a fact I am trans. I had known for a few months at that point, and I was like, I cannot f***ing do this anymore.”
She further added, “ It was like, I cannot do this anymore. If I stay in the closet anymore, this is going to take me down a very destructive path.” Despite having a non-supportive father like Musk, Vivian has never been afraid of voicing her opinions and stance as a person. She also labeled Musk’s opinion on all these as “cringe.”

She also voiced her solidarity and support for other transwomen, as she said, “Don’t let other people’s perceptions of you affect your own. Don’t be ashamed of being trans in a world that constantly tries to make us ashamed of who or what we are.”
