Elon Musk is now the leader of a newly announced political party called the ‘America Party’! This massive and shocking move came amid a reported fallout with Donald Trump due to significant differences in political opinions. Musk announced the news of the launch on his platform X( formerly Twitter). It claimed that the ‘America Party’ is a challenge to the two-party Republican and Democratic system.
He said his new party will focus on winning just 2 or 3 Senate seats and 8 to 10 House seats in the 2026 midterms. He believes that’s enough to shift the balance of power and ensure laws that truly reflect what people want.

It wasn’t long ago when Trump and Musk were seen sharing laughs during interviews, arriving at public events, and showering praise on each other. The media also claimed they were strong allies who shared the ambitious vision to ‘Make America Great Again’ (MAGA).
Musk stepped down from the role in DOGE in May 2025. Tabloid headlines claimed that he would focus on strengthening his electric vehicle company, Tesla, as its rank sank in the global market. Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s announcement about forming a new party has prompted widespread speculation on social media that the billionaire may have aspirations to become President of the United States.
The news came after Musk posted a poll on X on July 4, asking followers whether he should launch a new political party to rival Democrats and Republicans. The poll drew over a million responses, with 65.4% voting in favor.
“By a factor of 2 to 1, you want a new political party — and you shall have it!” Musk claimed, as he wrote, “When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

The move sparked online discussion, with many speculating that Musk is preparing for a presidential run. One user wrote, “It’s time for President Elon,” while another asked, “If Elon Musk ran for president, would you vote for him?” However, people do not know that Elon Musk cannot run for President of America.
According to Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution, only a natural-born citizen can hold the office of President. However, he was born in South Africa. Hence, he does not qualify for the criteria despite his U.S. citizenship or his many years of residency. Moreover, Musk has also repeatedly dismissed the idea of seeking elected office.
In 2024, he said: “My grandfather was American, but I was born in Africa, so I cannot be president.” He also clearly said that he has no interest in being the head of the state and instead wants to focus on building rockets and cars for the world.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump posted yet another fiery post on Truth Social after Musk announced details about his political party.”I’m saddened to see Elon Musk completely off the rails — he’s essentially become a TRAIN WRECK over the last five weeks,” Trump wrote. “Now he wants to launch a third political party, despite the fact that such efforts.”
Furthermore, Trump added, “Third parties only bring DISRUPTION and CHAOS,” Trump continued. “And we’ve already got more than enough of that from the Radical Left Democrats. Meanwhile, Republicans are a well-oiled machine We just passed the largest bill of its kind in U.S. history.”
