The negotiations for peace and ceasefire in Gaza have been going on for a while. In a significant development, 20 of 48 Israeli captives are slated to be released. Rest of the hostages are reportedly dead and their remains will be released in next few days. They have been handed over to the Red Cross representatives in Gaza. Simultaneously, Israel has also agreed to free 250 Palestinian prisoners, who had been sentenced for lifetime imprisonment earlier. Another 1722 detainers are also apprehended to be handed over, who were taken captive back on October 7.
Donald Trump has stepped ahead and taken credit for resolving the bloodshed between the two countries, which has been going on for a while now. He’s already travelled to Israel, where the U.S. President is supposed to take part in a global summit where he and the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will figure out a concrete way to stop the war. Amid such ambitious plans and schedule, Trump recently lost his cool to a reporter who seemed to be pressing for a little longer on the issue of whether the ceasefire in Gaza will actually hold up to its true essence or not.

Described as quite a dramatic moment, Donald Trump was infuriated with the BBC Breakfast reporter during a live coverage. It happened when he was just aboard Air Force One and had to respond to a flurry of questions regarding the peace negotiations he had kicked off in Gaza. Fielding all questions about the release of the Israeli hostages, Trump lost his cool on one particular reporter who double-checked with him again if both countries would actually uphold the ceasefire.
He snapped at the reporter and said, “The war is over, okay? Do you understand that?” As the reaction was quite shocking at the same time, another journalist again asked the same question, saying, “Are you confident that the ceasefire is going to hold?” However, now Trump seemed to understand the previous error and immediately regained his composure, before giving a well-versed and detailed answer to the query being asked to him again and again.
Trump said, “I think so. I think it’s gonna hold. I think people are… there’s a lot of reasons why it’s gonna hold, but I think people are tired of it. It’s been centuries, okay, not just recent. It’s been centuries. I think people are tired of it, yeah. The ceasefire is gonna hold.” Interestingly, the U.S. President went ahead to pat his back on negotiating peace between countries in the past and then remarked, “I’m good at solving wars. I’m good at making peace.
Well, Trump definitely feels confident about peace getting a chance in the feud between Gaza and Hamas. Netizens however, are unimpressed about his assertions, and are extremely skeptical. They feel that, for a war that has been going on for so long and has been extremely violent in nature, it is not so easy to negotiate peace talks by the release of hostages and prisoners. One netizen commented, “This is just a land grab by Israel. The war didn’t start on October 7th and isn’t over now”, whereas another social media user wrote, “Sadly, I wish it were true. This isn’t over, is it?”
