The Internet just can’t seem to get enough of the picture posted by Vice President JD Vance, along with his wife Usha, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The photograph happens to be from October 3. In the picture, both couples can be seen posing together at the entrance to Number One Observatory Circle, the vice president’s official residence.
Sharing the picture on social media platform X, JD Vance wrote, “It’s always a good time when you get to have the boss over for dinner! Usha and I were so grateful that President Trump and our lovely First Lady, Melania, could join us for dinner at the Vice President’s Residence last night.”

Simply put, the picture has been trending a great deal and not for all the right reasons. For starters, a section of the Internet couldn’t help but notice Donald Trump’s bruised hand caked with make-up. Now, the jury is out on the sartorial choices of the quartet, and netizens don’t seem to be fans.
For the double dinner, Melania Trump was dressed in a black form-fitting leather outfit, while Usha Vance took a simple route with a printed skirt, black top and a matching blazer to top it. Meanwhile, Donald Trump and JD Vance wore matching blue suits and ties to the dinner.
Melania’s dress found a fan or two on social media but by large, the Internet was not impressed. “Who gets that dressed up to go to someone’s house for dinner,” a user wrote. “Whoever does both of your makeup, tell them to do a better job,” another one added. “Melania being extra for date night with the POTUS,” another user added to the conversation.
Besides the many comments on the outfit choices and the botched makeup on Donald Trump’s bruised hand, the Internet decided to school them over the tone-deaf post, given the current turbulent times that the nation is facing. Several comments regarding the government shutdown and mass layoffs were made. “So enjoying dinner while the shutdown continues. Disgraceful,” penned an X user.
“It’s so apropos for you to post this while millions of your citizens are being harassed, losing healthcare, and struggling to pay for groceries,” flagged a user. Another one wrote, “Must be nice to get a luxury dinner at taxpayer expense. Some of us don’t know how long we’ll be able to eat due to the government shutting down and not getting paid.”
Another user on X commented this on JD Vance’s X thread, “Discussing more sinister plans for the country? Like making thousands of Federal employees resign, together with massive deportations to crash the jobs market?” Similar remarks flooded the thread. “Glad they enjoyed the fancy dinner, but it’s crazy how much taxpayer money was wasted on that feast,” read one.
Coming back to Melania Trump’s fashion choices. They can be summed up as polarising. The US First Lady’s fashion choices can veer from basic to outré, to outright shocking. During her recent UK visit, Melania showed up in a series of forgetful looks. She made her first appearance in a beige Burberry trench coat and boots to go with it. In quick succession, her next outfit pick was bright yellow off shoulder gown with a pink belt also failed to impress the fashion police. The list of recent fashion oopsies would be incomplete without that OTT hat that eclipsed everything, including her face.
You all just can’t leave her alone, can you? This snarkiness gets really old fast.
