Donald Trump has been particularly enthusiastic about immigration policies since he returned as the American President for his second term. Recently, while taking a tour of the ICE detention center which is being dubbed as Alligator Alcatraz, Trump talked about how he is not averse to the idea of deporting citizens of the country.
The President said, “They’re not new to our country. They’re old to our country. Many of them were born in our country. I think we ought to get them the hell out of here, too, if you want to know the truth.”
While such comments on Trump’s part are not really shocking, this one also faced backlash with Liberal commentator Joy Reid slamming him on The Joy Reid Show while interviewing Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).
Talking about the way Trump is dealing with immigration and related policies, Reid said, “If you give the president of the United States monarchical-like powers to say, ‘I don’t like your views, I don’t like your take on issues, I don’t like that you’re too liberal, you’re not conservative enough, I’m just gonna take away your naturalized citizenship,‘ well… If we ever get a Democratic president, they could say, ‘I don’t like Melania Trump. She wasn’t born here. She was born in Slovenia. She is a naturalized citizen. She’s outta here.’”
She further added, “And by the way, Ivana Trump, the late Ivana Trump, who’s buried in the golf course in New Jersey in Donald Trump’s golf club, she wasn’t an American citizen. And three of her children are Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka.”

Reid did not stop at this and said, “And maybe the next Democratic president says, ‘You know what? I don’t like the Trumps. And so we’re gonna denaturalize all of the Trump children, whose mother was a foreigner at the time.”
She continued, “This opens a huge door, Congresswoman, because that means that any future president can decide that they don’t like the Trumps and don’t want them here and want Melania gone. And they could just denaturalize and deport her, and she’d be outta here.”

It is important to note here that there are already demands of deporting Melania Trump and Barron Trump amid Trump’s immigration crackdown. While Barron Trump does have an American father, his mother was not an American citizen originally as she came to America in 1996 and then obtained a visitor’s visa and then a work visa for her modeling career.
Then, while being in a relationship with Trump, Melania began the process of her citizenship in 2000. In 2001, she was given a Green Card through the EB-1 Program, which is also known as the Einstein Program, given for extraordinary achievements.

Melania obtaining her Green Card through this program is itself a controversial topic because it is only granted to people in the field of science or humanities who are extremely successful or have achieved something groundbreaking; none of which seemed to be the case for Melania.
Now that Trump is calling for deportation on various grounds, a number of which do not make any sense, it is only natural that calls for Melania and Barron are also rising. Trump also threatened to deport Elon Musk and Zohran Mamdani, on grounds which do not really hold up, as experts claimed.
