The current political scenario in America suggests that the Trump administration can do anything. But the one thing they can’t do, no matter how much they try, is escape the backlash. Donald Trump faces trolling, criticism and hate comments on a daily basis over his controversial bills and executive orders; and so does his inner circle, who defends him. The same can be said for Karoline Leavitt, who has been ridiculed on the internet for so long, that it seems hard for her to ever overshadow the criticism and embarrassment.
Karoline made history by becoming the youngest White House press secretary in the history of America. The 27-year-old took one of the most challenging jobs earlier this year, with a change in her wardrobe and facial features as she opted for the infamous MAGA face. But an alleged Botox face with heavy makeup, and dressing up like a granny doesn’t necessarily mean that people would take her seriously. Since the beginning of her new job, she has made quite a few blunders during her press briefings. People have accused her of ‘lying’ on Trump’s behalf, ridiculing news channels and reporters that don’t sing the same tune as the Trump administration.
In one of the earlier polls, most Americans had no opinions about Karoline as she was a new face in politics and people needed more time to assess if she actually fits the role. But as the Trump administration is closer to completing six months in office, opinions have been formed and are being voiced at every possible platform as the government turns deaf ears to protests and backlash over multiple policies.
Karoline Leavitt enjoys 1.9 million followers on Instagram and 1.4 million on X. Those definitely aren’t small numbers. However, inside every social media post of hers, she is ridiculed by netizens. The comments and discussions across all social media platforms reveal that even her most ardent followers are beginning to express embarrassment over her conduct. The mockery, however, comes with long-term consequences for her credibility.
The Trump administration, including Karoline, have always found support among conservatives. The press secretary even wore a cross necklace in several press briefings, which didn’t go unnoticed by fans as well as critics. But now, a lot of hate comments come from conservative women, who are becoming critical of Leavitt’s representation. Some view her as a negative reflection of their values and aspirations.

In the comment section of one of her posts, someone wrote, “Children in Kerrville are dead and MAGA and DOGE are to blame for cutting funding to NOAA and FEMA. This could have been prevented. This is your fault and this will continue under this unqualified, despicable admin.”
“Let’s all rebuke her in the name of Jesus Christ !!! Hell exist and it’s a eternity vacation if you don’t repent of all the inhuman you are doing,” reads another comment.
During an interview with OK Magazine, Amanda Marcotte, a senior writer, known for her progressive political and cultural commentary, said, “No one wants to be like Karoline Leavitt, old before her time, and spending all her time around cranky, Fox News-addled senior citizens. She may make a certain kind of man happy, but to women, the ultimate message is clear: Being MAGA robs you of your youth, beauty and talent, and replaces them with a lifetime of service to the worst men.”
She recently shared a picture with Donald Trump and called him, “Most transparent President in history.” This post, too, provoked significant backlash. Someone wrote, “How do you lie everyday like this? Masters of b-llshit degree.”

“Ok transparency time : what will the new bill do for the highest income earners? Can you spell it out please?” asked another frustrated citizen.
Criticism spans from mocking her presentation to highlighting the perceived dishonesty in her messaging. These reactions serve to underscore the growing dissent against her methods and the Trump administration’s policies. Someone wrote, “Disgraceful that you blame everything on the Biden administration. Your whataboutism is all you ever spout.”

Marcotte highlighted that Karoline’s behavior gives one simple message to women: “Being a handmaiden of patriarchy is cringeworthy.”
At this point, it seems that Karoline can’t overturn the public perception about her. She would need a miracle to stop the mockery of her professional and personal life, as people can’t stop criticizing her 32 year age gap with her husband. Trolls call the couple ‘father-daughter’ in mockery, and Karoline has no choice but to swallow the hate in silence.
