Michelle Obama is raising eyebrows with her recent endorsement. The former First Lady appeared in an ad for Plezi nutrition that left netizens confused. She was described to be acting like a “21-year-old influencer” after the ad surfaced online.

The ad comes amid rumors about financial problems and divorce surrounding her marriage to Barack Obama. The rumors about the couple’s marriage being on the rocks have been persistent since the beginning of the year. The ad has only evoked a sense of concern amongst fans.

In the clip posted on social media, the former First Lady’s unusual informal demeanor caught the attention of netizens. In the video, Michelle endorsed Plezi’s hydration drink that contains low amounts of sugar and is being marketed as a health drink.

“I just love everything about the 4th of July. Friends, family, barbeque, and fireworks,” the former FLOTUS is heard saying. She goes on to urge people to try out the new hydration drink on the upcoming holiday.

An X (formerly known as Twitter) user took to the platform and reposted the video, claiming that the ad is a sign of “financial hardships.” The same user wrote, “Most of her fans believe this is a sign that Michelle is experiencing financial hardship amid the divorce rumors with Barack.”

“There ya go, fellas, she will be single soon,” another user chimed in. ‘Is there a divorce in the future?” a third questioned. A user labelled the ad as “cringe,” while another claimed that Michelle gave them “the creeps.” Several others labelled it as “embarrassing” and “weird.”

Many others also quickly dismissed the claims that Michelle had financial troubles. “How can you tweet such nonsense like this.. this woman has a deal of $70 to 100 million per year on her book, Netflix, etc…” one user wrote. “She is worth bazillions,” a second claimed. A third chimed in, noting that the couple was definitely “not hurting for money.”

A different group of people questioned the relevance of the hydration drink to the 4th of July. “Funny, she says she likes everything about July 4th, but doesn’t mention Independence Day or the flag, just friends, family, barbecue, and fireworks. Hard to believe she was a First Lady,” one netizen noted.

Several others pointed out how out of character the ad was for the former First Lady, who often maintains a polished image. “Michelle Obama going full influencer for a Plezi ad? Definitely not the Michelle we’re used to seeing,” one user noted. Another added how “out of character” the ad was for the former First Lady.
