Trump Turning White House Into His Personal Playground

Following the announcement of the erection of two enormous flagpoles on the White House grounds—a “gift” from the president that he claimed “was always missing”—Donald Trump proceeded with his White House renovation on Tuesday.

Trump revealed Tuesday night that the two buildings, which he had previously stated would be roughly 100 feet, would be built on the North and South lawns with a 30-foot view of the White House. Trump stated on Truth Social, “It is a GIFT from me of something which was always missing from this magnificent place.”

Although the precise site is unknown, Trump previously stated that a U.S. flag will fly atop the poles and that they are “paid for by Trump.” Flags are anticipated to be hoisted around mid-morning, and the president indicated that “digging” will start on Wednesday morning.

In addition to the POW/MIA flag, a flag is already flown from a pole on the White House roof around-the-clock. “These are the most magnificent poles made,” Trump claimed Tuesday of the new additions. “They are tall, tapered, rust proof, rope inside the pole, and of the highest quality. Hopefully, they will proudly stand at both sides of the White House for many years to come!”

Questions concerning the flags’ dimensions, country of manufacturing, and maker were not immediately answered by the White House. In April, just as another shift was beginning to take place on the grounds, Trump first announced his flag intention.

He clarified that the president’s renovation of the Rose Garden, which includes paving over the grass, is being done to make it simpler for women wearing high heels to move around. “It’s supposed to have events. Every event you have it’s soaking wet,” Trump said on Fox News in March. “The women with the high heels, it’s just too much… the grass, it doesn’t work. We use it for press conferences. It doesn’t work.”

Trees, including a saucer Magnolia that was allegedly one of four planted to honor the late President John F. Kennedy, have been felled as part of the procedure. Trump has also been in charge of making changes to the White House grounds and revamping the Oval Office, which now contains a lot more gold than it did a year ago—so much so that one critic dubbed it “Russian oligarch style.”

This isn’t the first time, President Donald Trump has brought his passion for gold furnishings and maximalism to the Oval Office during his second nonconsecutive administration. There are plans to renovate the White House further. Trump told Fox News that in order to create a patio that is better suited for big gatherings, he intends to lay stone tiles over the grass in the White House Rose Garden. “The grass just doesn’t work,” Trump told Fox News host Laura Ingraham in March.

Bill Clinton was the original recipient of Biden’s dark-blue Oval Office rug design. Kaki Hockersmith, an interior designer from Little Rock, Arkansas, created the rug, which included the presidential seal in the middle.

Trump replaced it with Ronald Reagan’s lighter rug when he got back to the White House. Olive branches, a symbol of peace, a sunbeam pattern, and the presidential seal are all included in the rug’s design. During his first term, Trump also utilized the rug.

Biden displayed an American flag and a flag with the presidential seal. Trump’s Oval Office features the flags of the Army, the Marine Corps, and the Navy. Not just that, from ceilings to artificial embellishments, Trump has made sure he changes every bit of the White House.
