Imagine finding something that could be a plot twist in a royal mystery novel. That happened when a maid stumbled upon a handwritten will by the late Princess Diana, tucked away in a jam-packed drawer in Kensington Palace. This discovery came about as they were tidying up for the 28th anniversary of the deadly car accident.
The pages looked like they hadn’t seen the light of day for ages, and now it’s stirring up old feelings within the Royal Family. According to RadarOnline.com, Diana’s secret had been unknown to her most trusted legal advisors.
This “Second Will” was hidden in an old desk she used for her letters. It’s different from the will everyone knows about, the one from 1993 that mainly left her property to William and Harry.
This new one contains personal messages, including heartfelt instructions, straightforward advice for Princess Diana’s sons and their future spouses, and even some words for her ex-husband, King Charles, and the late Queen Elizabeth.
Someone close to the royal family says, “This changes everything.” It’s starting to feel like it might just do that.
What Did Princess Diana Say About William, Harry, and ‘The Crown’?
Diana’s most emotional secret was about her beloved boys, William and Harry. She wrote it to feel more like a goodbye letter than anything else. She had a message for them in the letter: “Protect each other always, no matter what they say about me, or about you.” This got to William and made him cry, as it is being reported.
Diana’s writing also shows that she worried their royal responsibilities could ruin their relationship. She said they shouldn’t let their duty as princes come between them as brothers, and it’s almost like she saw into the future because she added that she was afraid that their royal crown and the duties that come with it “would demand more than love can withstand.”
This part hits home when we think about what’s happening with them, especially with Harry leaving the royal family.

The note felt like a legend to Harry: it had a map and promised him a piece of land in a hidden spot in Africa, telling him to go there alone. “The people will welcome you and make you their king,” Princess Diana had written, showing her love and hinting that Harry might need a safe place to escape to one day.
There was also a message for the women William and Harry would marry: “Love William and Harry until death do you part (…) I was denied that pleasure.” She hinted at her life with Charles, as she never felt that kind of love in her marriage.
Diana’s Final Words to Charles, Camilla, and Queen Elizabeth
Diana’s will didn’t only cover her family’s feelings. She had some strong, heartfelt words for King Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, who was his companion then. Camilla got a pile of old love stories and a mean note. As for Charles, Diana didn’t say much to him, but how she talked about the boys tells a lot: respect your dad’s new wife, but “always keep me safe in your heart.”
The last thing Princess Diana did for Queen Elizabeth was mysterious and sad: she gave her a key to a safety deposit box with a note saying, “For your eyes only. Please return to its rightful owner and tell her I’m so sorry.”

Now that the Queen has passed away, royal lawyers will probably debate what to do with everything inside that box.
A palace insider said, “Diana knew she was being watched. She kept this second will hidden because she didn’t trust anyone around her – not the staff, not her own lawyers, and certainly not the Firm.” That’s probably why this secret paper has been hidden for almost 30 years, just waiting for the right time (or maybe the wrong time) to come out.
