Usha Vance is definitely one of those First Ladies who like to keep it classy yet modern. However, one astonishing thing about her wardrobe is that it keeps changing according to her political shift. Usha has veered left and right.
Before meeting JD Vance, she was a part of the core liberal circle at Yale and Cambridge. She carried on her left-wing ideologies to her San Francisco law firm, where she worked until 2024. However, after she married Vance in 2014, she had to give up her Democratic registration.
Usha’s wardrobe was also impacted by her sudden political shift. Since then, we have witnessed the Second Lady alternating between outdated looks. She also faced the wrath of fashion police for often wearing too underwhelming clothes. Although it should be acknowledged that lately, Mrs. Vance has been experimenting with more current fashion.
As part of the trial and error, Usha recently donned a figure-hugging dress, which sure got people talking. In May 2025, alongside her husband, JD, the SLOTUS attended the Police Week Breakfast. As the host, she was obliged to look good, and Usha took it personally.
The Second Lady donned a Marie Oliver collection. The North Carolina-based fashion house is known for its signature graphic prints with understated elegance, a perfect fit for Usha.
Her dress had a soft navy jersey and topographic pattern prints, which magically skimmed her figure without making a suggestion. It also had long sleeves and a high mock neck that helped Usha look her best sculpted for the evening. Not to mention, the metallic braided rope belt on the waist delivered the ultimate perfection to the dress, and it looked stunning on the Second Lady, to say the least.

She looked her best that night, but some people noticed another pattern aside from the topography on her dress. Usha Vance has a bit of obsession with the color blue: She likes blue, blue likes her, and her wardrobe seems to be oversaturated by this color.
Apart from the stunning blue Marie Oliver, one of her other blue outfits created quite a buzz. During the Republican National Convention last year, she came out in a fabulous cobalt Badgley Mischka dress. While the Marie Oliver one originally retailed for $298, this one is a tad bit costlier, at $395.
Although the silhouette of the dress was nothing new for Vance, the asymmetrical neckline sure added a bit more drama to her look. In addition, the hue was saturated enough to balance the LED-lit stage.
When Vance visited Paris to meet President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte, she wore a blue satin dress by Erin and Sara Foster. Guess what she had on for the 2025 Commander-in-Chief Inaugural Ball? Yes, blue again. She looked gorgeous in a custom Reem Acra gown in shimmering shades of blue that night.

This Marie Oliver dress was made just for Usha, as no one else could have worn it better.

Usha wore a blue dress again for the ball, showcasing how much she loves the color.
