Baba Vanga is a name well-known among those who believe in psychics and future predictions. She may have died but her predictions are still considered revered among the masses.
Baba Vanga was born Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova in 1911 in what is now North Macedonia. Her life was marked by hardship and tragedy. She lost her sight during a severe storm when she was young. She later claimed that she could see the future.
She gained fame as a healer and a prophet. Her name became known among her people and then spread across. Thousands of people were drawn to her seeking insight into their future and destinies. She then rose to prominence as a blind mystic.
Her fame crossed borders as her followers credited her for a series of accurate predictions. Over time, her legend grew and people started to compare her to modern-day Nostradamus. People were so enthralled with her that even though she passed away in 1996, her forecasts and predictions remain central to the conversations of fate and prophecy.
Four months into 2024 the world has already experienced significant turmoil. #Baba_Vanga, the blind #Bulgarian mystic renowned for her reputed ability to foresee major global events such as 9/11, Chernobyl before she died in 1996 at the age of 85 & some of them are coming true. pic.twitter.com/eMl3yyotWy

There are several world events that could be tied to her predictions with a certain level of accuracy. Among these are the 9/11 attacks in the United States, the sinking of the Russian submarine Kursk, and the historic election of Barack Obama as the first Black president of the United States. These events occurred long after her death and then fueled both belief and scrutiny.
Even in 2025, believers could find the parallels between her predictions and real-world events. Baba Vanga reportedly foresaw a catastrophic earthquake. It could be the powerful 7.7 magnitude tremor that struck Myanmar and Thailand earlier this year.
This caused widespread devastation. Myanmar was hit most and the country is still recovering.

Baba Vanga’s foresight extends well into the 21st century including 2025. Among her key forecasts are important breakthroughs in medical science. This particularly included the successful development of human organs in laboratories. She also suggested that there will be the emergence of telepathic technologies that have the potential to alter human communication. Other predictions include a severe economic decline and even hints at contact with extraterrestrial life.
She also foresaw a possible conflict in Europe and the discovery of a new, limitless energy source. These speculations are similar to ongoing geopolitical tensions and continuous efforts for sustainable energy solutions.
But her prophecies do not stop with 2025. She has predictions till the year 5079. She marked that year as the end of the world. These long-term forecasts talk about massive climate changes and planetary transformations. She also included the ultimate evolution of human civilization which could be the demise of humans as we know it.
But not everyone is a fan. There has been ample skepticism and cynicism around her words. Critics have pointed out that many of her statements are either too vague or retroactively interpreted.

There is also a lack of written records that makes verifying these statements difficult.
Yet, one can’t deny that her prophecies stir public imagination. People can view these as coincidence, self-fulfilling prophecy, or genuine foresight. However, Baba Vanga will remain a cultural icon.
Her predictions serve not only as potential glimpses into the future but also as reflections of humanity’s hopes and fears in a rapidly changing world.
