Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs‘ trial paused as the New York City courthouse was closed on the occasion of Memorial Day. The 55-year-old music mogul who was arrested in September last year, stayed behind the bars during the holidays.
Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday of May. The federal holiday is marked to mourn the US military personnel who died while serving the nation. While the court was closed on the occasion, Diddy’s holiday was spent at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), where he has been kept since his arrest, along with Luigi Mangione, who is awaiting trial on charges related to the killing of Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare.
Diddy, who owns luxurious mansions in LA and Miami, reportedly lives on a fourth-floor dormitory-style unit that he shares with 20 men. Though he couldn’t spend the day with his family and friends, the prison authorities had arranged some activities for the detainees on Monday, May 26.
“Card games, dominoes, 3 on 3 basketball tournament and soccer tournament” were organized—People learned from a prison staff. The news portal also revealed the prison’s menu. For breakfast, Diddy and other inmates were served a normal Monday meal, which consisted of fruit, cereal, skim milk, and a breakfast cake.

The lunch spread was quite intriguing. It had BBQ chicken, kidney beans, macaroni and cheese, mixed vegetables, whole wheat bread, and fruit. A holiday dessert and a beverage was also included.
For dinner, the prisoners were served “chicken, tofu, rice, pinto beans, canned corn, whole wheat bread and a drink,” according to the report by People.
It’s ironic how he had to spend his holiday, in comparison to his lavish parties he was a part of, before he was arrested for heinous crimes against women. During the Christmas holidays, he reportedly had a meltdown as he hadn’t expected he would stay locked up for so long. An insider said, “With his high powered legal team Diddy thought he’d be out on bail by now.”

“Spending the holidays behind bars was a nightmare for him. He eventually managed to calm himself down with the meditation technique he’s been using while he’s been behind bars,” he further said, as per The Sun.
Diddy’s bail was denied twice and he has reportedly not been given any special treatment inside the jail. The prison is plagued with violence, rodents, and raw sewage. It also reportedly has a history of inmate deaths.
Diddy’s trial began on May 5, and so far, several testimonies have been made against him, including the one by his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura. Diddy’s appearance in the courthouse shocked many as he looked visibly thin, and his hair turned grey.
Diddy is facing serious charges, which include racketeering, s—x trafficking and transportation to engage in pr—stitution. He is also facing multiple civil lawsuits that accuse him of abuse and sexual misconduct. The 55-year-old has denied all accusations and has pleaded not guilty. However, if he is convicted, he could face life imprisonment.
As the Memorial Day holiday concludes, Diddy’s trial will continue from Tuesday. Though his trial is taking weeks, it is most likely to conclude before July 4, confirmed Judge Arun Subramanian.
