The trend of getting a plastic surgery is on a rise in the past few years. The pressure for women to look youthful and appealing is directly proportional to being desired. In a world where being a woman comes with an endless number of judgments, if you have blonde hair, people will say, why don’t you get darker? ” no boobs? Grow some! big boobs? Get sexualized unnecessarily, or be too fat? Hit the gym or be too skinny? Don’t you like to eat? Please gain some weight!

Basically, women are trolled like no one else on this planet, and the male gaze is a universal crisis.

So we don’t blame women when we hear that maintaining a youthful appearance often turns to plastic surgery, from facelifts and neck lifts to non-invasive options like anti-wrinkle injections and fillers, because if you don’t do anything, they are still going to judge.

If a megastar like Selena Gomez can be judged for gaining a few kilos, don’t think women next door will be left out, especially ruthless users hiding behind private profiles on social media. However, as per GB News, renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Anil Shah, it’s possible to achieve a more youthful glow without going under the knife (plastic surgery) and leaning towards normal procedures, which are more affordable and pose less risk.

Furthermore, diet also plays a huge role in achieving good skin, especially for women of a certain age. Dr. Shah recommended incorporating fish oil into your daily diet, ideally around five grams per day. Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fish like salmon, mackerel, and herring can help keep skin hydrated, reduce inflammation, and protect collagen.

Meanwhile, Dr. Shah also recommends using retinol as a part of your skincare routine from your mid-twenties. The popular element, which is a derivative of Vitamin A, works wonders for acne and anti-aging. Make sure to use it at night and follow it up with a moisturizer for a youthful glow.

Make sure to use sunscreen during the daytime as well, since retinol can make skin more sensitive to UV rays. Start with a low concentration of retinol (0.25-0.3%) as a beginner for your skin to get adjusted.

“My go-to is Retinol Forza — it’s strong yet soothing and helps reduce fine lines and dark spots for smoother, firmer skin.” said Dr. Shah. Other regional brands include The Ordinary Retinol (0.2% in Squalane) and CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol serum.

In addition, red light therapy is another non-invasive treatment praised for its anti-aging benefits. Dr. Shah describes it as “essential” for boosting collagen and reducing inflammation. It’s especially helpful for those undergoing other aesthetic treatments, as it can speed up healing by up to 25 percent and provide a youthful look.

Chemical peels are another option to choose from in place of intense cosmetic procedures or surgeries, which use special acids to remove the top layer of damaged skin. They are also used to treat fine lines and acne scars, uneven skin tone, and sun-damaged skin. Lastly, micro-needling is another process that promotes the body’s natural healing process. The technique dates back over 2,000 years to ancient China.

Using a pen-like device fitted with tiny needles,  they create micro-injuries in the skin. This triggers the body to send collagen and elastin to the area, improving texture and firmness. Therefore, keep in mind that while these treatments may not deliver the dramatic transformation of a facelift, they offer plenty of benefits, like a youthful look, which will garner compliments.

In addition, these treatments will help you achieve a youthful glow naturally, whether you are starting to use products or opting for facials/peels as a beginner or merely exploring new skin treatment options as a skincare enthusiast.

So you see, getting a plastic surgery isn’t the only way to keep looking youthful. Speak to a licensed dermatologist and do your research before choosing anything. Don’t forget to ask questions and remember to sit back, close your eyes, relax, and make the experience worth it.
