Anyone following updates about the President and the First Lady must have come across this most popular gossip. Journalist and Editor Mary Jordan claimed the couple sleeps in different beds in her book ‘The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump’.

She wrote, “No matter which of his properties he is visiting, Trump sleeps in a separate bedroom that has been decorated to his taste — he favors darker colored walls and rugs, while Melania likes whites and light colors.”
Over the time, these claims have only gotten stronger. The couple, who has been married for 20 years now, is said to have separate bedrooms in the White House as well. In fact, it is reported that their rooms are on different floors.
Melania Trump Allegedly Doesn’t Live at the White House
During Trump’s first term, several media reports claimed that the couple is separated and Melania doesn’t even live at the White House. A report claimed that she lives in New York to stay closer to her rumored boyfriend, Hank Siemers. However, spokesperson Stephanie Grisham later came forward and claimed that these reports are “1,000% false and “We laugh at it all the time.”

Grisham made it clear that Melania has been staying only so that her son Barron Trump completes his school year. Once that happens, she’ll move to the White House. While the rumors slowly started to die down, they have again resurfaced in 2025. Melania is mostly absent from the White House which has again raised many eyebrows.
Melania Trump’s Body Double Conspiracy
One of the wildest theories about Melania Trump is that she has a body double. The rumor originated in 2017 when some media portals and social media users posted a picture of Donald and Melania Trump together during a public appearance as they claimed to have noticed some differences in facial features, bodily dimensions, and behavior. The theory keeps floating time and again but so far, there has been no substantial proof of Melania Trump using a body double.

Donald Trump Reportedly Blamed Melania for Political Setback
In November 2022, The New York Post published a report claiming that “Donald Trump blamed members of his inner circle, including Melania Trump, for pushing him to endorse Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz,” who failed in the Pennsylvania Senate race. Reporter and author Maggie Haberman tweeted that Trump felt that Melania’s backing of Oz was “not her best decision.” The report fueled rumors of tension between the couple. In 2023, it was reported that Melania doesn’t want to be a part of Trump’s presidential campaign.

Their Marriage is Said to be ‘Transactional’
People often wonder if Melania and Donald Trump‘s marriage is truly based on love or if there’s something more to it. In 2020, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, former senior advisor to the first lady Melania Trump, told BBC that Melania and Donald’s marriage is ‘transactional.’
She said, “I do believe it’s a transactional marriage. Donald got arm candy. Melania got two dynamic decades. She was a young model, she didn’t have success yet. She met Donald, she married, she became an American citizen, they had a son and ten years after that she’s the first lady of the United States.”
These rumors have been floating on the Internet and in headlines for the last ten years. None of them have been confirmed nor denied by the couple themselves.
