Princess Diana’s and Queen Camilla’s rings both cost a fortune. King Charles, who has been married to both women, has proposed to them with rather impressive rings. Here’s everything you need to know about both the rings and how much they approximately cost.
Charles proposed to Princess Diana on February 3, 1981. The couple got married on 29 July 1981. The wedding ceremony took place at St Paul’s Cathedral. 750 million people tuned into the television broadcast to see the royals get married.
Princess Diana was given a sapphire ring by Charles when he proposed to her. Diana was the one to pick her own ring, which at the time broke royal tradition. The Garrard’s ring was an oval-cut sapphire and had a 12-carat diamond. The ring was reportedly sourced from Sri Lanka.
The famous 12-carat diamond was surrounded by solitaire diamonds that were 14 round-cut. The ring was estimated to be worth between $37,500 to $60,000. The ring is currently worth approximately $520,000.
The increased cost of the ring can be credited to multiple factors. One of them is the fact that the late princess previously owned it. The sapphire ring is now worn by Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. Prince William used his mother’s ring to propose to Catherine in 2010.

Charles and Camilla got engaged in 2005, three years after they officially declared they were seeing each other. The ring Charles proposed to Camilla featured an emerald-cut diamond. The five-carat diamond sat in the middle with three baguette diamonds on either side of it. Charles’s grandmother, the Queen Mother, owned the ring.
The ring has been passed down for generations in the royal family. The Queen Mother received it as a gift from King George VI. The ring was given as a gift after she gave birth to Queen Elizabeth II. The ring is estimated to be worth $288,000.
Charles and Camilla got engaged on February 5, 2005, 8 years after they started dating publicly. The couple announced their relationship a year after Diana had passed away. The pair got married 35 years after their first meeting.
I truly love that HM Camilla’s engagement ring has historical significance. HM Charles had a very special bond with his grandmother the Queen Mum. He said she was a “magical grandmother”. When proposing to Camilla he gave her a ring that belonged to his grandmother. It’s also pic.twitter.com/l9UfYmPiXY
