Following a “senseless” on-the-job attack in which her manager sat on top of her, a California 7-Eleven employee was left brain dead. She passed away on Wednesday after being removed from life support.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Jessica McLaughlin, 24, was working at a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles on June 24 when she was “violently and senselessly attacked” by her unnamed female manager, who is still at large, following an argument that started just after 2:00 p.m.
The insane Big Gulp slinger stopped McLaughlin’s breathing during the assault by pulling her hair and pressing her entire weight down on her upper torso. In a GoFundMe page, the victim’s brother Sean McLaughlin stated, “She held her down, sat on top of her, and didn’t let her breathe.”
According to Fox11, worried coworkers attempted to remove the insane woman from McLaughlin but ended up becoming targets themselves. According to the GoFundMe, the manager allegedly fled into the 7-Eleven’s back office and attempted to delete security footage while they were trying to rescue McLaughlin.

While struggling free, McLaughlin passed out and never came to. According to the LA Times, physicians determined that she was brain dead from a lack of oxygen after she was brought to Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition.
Days after the incident, her family chose to remove her from life support, and Fox 11 reports that she passed away on Wednesday. “Jessica had a talent for making others feel loved, safe, and accepted. Her brother posted on GoFundMe, “You could come to her with anything and know you wouldn’t be judged.”

She had such a beautiful soul and deserved so much better than the way her life was taken from her.” The investigation is still underway, and police are still looking for her alleged attacker. “Our hearts are with those impacted during this difficult time. The suspect has been terminated, and we continue to fully cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation,” 7-Eleven said in a statement.
