2025 Tony Awards’ 5 Worst Dressed

This year has been fantastic for theatergoers, as it always is. The 78th Annual Tony Awards are the ideal occasion to celebrate. In theater, a lot of people are needed to provide a successful performance, from the stars on stage to those working backstage.

This year, a number of those individuals showed up to celebrate their accomplishments on the red carpet at the Tony Awards. Additionally, many of their ensembles were worthy of a standing ovation, much like the performances they participated in.

Some were more “boo”-worthy, though.

Here’s a list of celebrities who wore the worst outfits to the 2024 Tony Awards. Hopefully, these typically gorgeous celebrities will also turn their charms around.

Cynthia Erivo’s overwhelming dress

The ancient saying, “don’t let the dress wear you,” has a purpose: you, or Cynthia Erivo in this instance, don’t want people to notice your attire and forget who’s wearing it. Erivo, the host of the awards presentation, is known for her avant-garde fashion sense, but this Schiaparelli ensemble totally overshadowed her small frame, making the multi-talented actor appear engulfed in the sculpture.

Sarah Paulson’s disastrous gown

We regret to inform you that this is just another of Sarah Paulson’s numerous outrageous red carpet appearances. Paulson’s gown had a bottom that appeared to have been ripped from a wedding dress that was in a thrift store and affixed to its black velvet top. On the plus side, though, Paulson’s hourglass figure is gorgeous.

Kip Williams’ referee look

Was it just us, or did anyone else see Kip Williams’ jacket and think of Robin Thicke’s striped suit from his contentious 2013 VMAs performance? Even by itself, this specific print—an odd length, a peculiar collar, and gaudy rhinestones—was too much. A printed jacket, on the other hand, is a fun way to liven up an otherwise dull suit. You’ve got a fashion disaster when you add a pair of glittery shoes that even Dorothy herself wouldn’t be envious of.

Anna Wintour’s accessories were all wrong

Bee Shaffer, the daughter of fashion legend Anna Wintour, walked the red carpet with her mother at the 78th annual Tony Awards. While we admired Shaffer’s understated elegance, we were uneasy about Wintour’s attire. If it weren’t for the accessories, the floral dress would have been a great choice for the event. The Vogue icon is undoubtedly very stylish. Wintour’s eye-catching necklace seemed out of style and out of place with the dress. Her trademark black shades further ruined the ensemble.

Cole Escola’s tribute fails miserably

Cole Escola, who received five nominations for his outstanding performance in “Oh, Mary!” is no stranger to spectacular red carpet attire. Escola and Peters were not honored by this appearance, which was purportedly a tribute to Broadway icon Bernadette Peters. Rather, it resembled something from a Disneyland souvenir shop.

We all support tributes, but they must be well-thought-out and not a “Frozen” ripoff; otherwise, you aren’t doing anyone any favors.
