Donald Trump has massive plans for his birthday, and it’s already raising many eyebrows. The President’s 79th birthday is coinciding with the Army’s 250th anniversary and he has already planned to steal away all the limelight.
An army celebration was planned long before Trump was elected President. But then, Trump bounced in and got involved with the planning. He announced that it is going to be a big day, while adding, “We want to show off a little bit.”
Let’s all agree that Trump was honest about the “show off” part because he wants the spotlight on himself during the much-awaited Army celebration. Democratic Senator Tammy Duckworth asserted, “If it was really about celebrating military families, we could put $30 million toward helping them offset the cost of their child care, food assistance and tuition.”
“But it isn’t. Trump is throwing himself a $30 million birthday parade just to stroke his own ego,” she added.

Army officials have speculated that nearly 200,000 people would mark their presence, and Trump has made it clear that he wants a big, fat military parade on his birthday, so the numbers could vary.
But the celebration may not attract as much crowd as he is expecting. As per a Politico report, many of the congressional Republicans are planning to skip the event. The portal surveyed 50 GOP Lawmakers and only seven of them said that they would be in Washington DC to attend the parade.
“The chairs of the House and Senate Armed Services committees, the top congressional officials overseeing the military, are skipping Trump’s pageantry, which includes a flyover of vintage and contemporary warplanes. Instead, they’ll attend a different air show — the annual defense industry confab in Paris,” reports Politico.
Apart from the lack of in-person attendees, Trump could also face limited TV coverage on his birthday parade. Though some pro-Trump channels would dedicate extensive airtime to the parade, the same can’t be said for all channels, who would likely focus on sports, ongoing protests, or Pope Leo XIV, who also has an event arranged on the same day. The celebration will be held in Pope’s hometown, Chicago.
Though the Pope will not be attending the event in person, he will deliver a virtual message to his followers. Hundreds of thousands of Catholics are expected to attend the event in Chicago, thus giving Trump’s celebration a miss.
Moreover, Trump’s $30M birthday parade on June 14 may also face weather related challenges. Accuweather senior meteorologist Thomas Kines has forecasted a “warm and humid evening,” but also added that a risk of thunderstorm could lead to heavy downpour.
“If only the Golden Dome was in place, maybe Trump could keep the storms away,” Kines joked during a conversation with The Irish Star US.
Weather.dom has predicted a 63% chance of rain and thunderstorms.
Moreover, a former hotel manager has claimed that people are not interested in coming to DC. Tim Hogan wrote in a tweet, “On Trump’s parade, I’m a former hotel manager including a time in sales. I ran some room reservation requests for 13 -15 for cheap rooms that would not be available in a period of high occupancy. I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty, nobody is coming to DC.”
“Remember his rally on the mall? It’s looking like it might top that for an embarrassment,” he added.

An X user chimed in “That’s why he cancelled his public inauguration and only had billionaires attend inside. It’s always cold. It’s January. Not enough people were going to show up.”

“Or his 1 inauguration parade walking past all the empty stands, being embarrassed and sending Sean Spicer out the next day to start lying,” added another.

Though many challenges could potentially upset Trump, he would still boast about it. “We all know he’ll say; it was the biggest attendance, in the history of attending,” an X user has predicted Trump’s reaction after the event is over.

For now, we have to wait and watch how Trump enjoys his extravagant military parade if it doesn’t rain and spoils his mood. Because we all know that Trump hates being out in the rain.
