DNA test on his own daughter? Yes! The physical characteristics that children inherit are influenced by genetics, and identification is frequently aided by family resemblances. While many children may not closely resemble either parent, significant differences in appearance can sometimes raise suspicions.
One rare instance included a man who started to suspect that his daughter, whom he considered “too pretty” and who didn’t look much like him or his wife. He thought she might not be biologically his daughter. According to the South China Morning Post, he ordered a DNA test because of his suspicions, but the findings revealed an unexpected twist.
When their daughter, Lan, was just three years old, the family moved to Ho Chi Minh City for her father’s work. As Lan reached adolescence, her father couldn’t get rid of the impression that she didn’t look like him or his wife, Hong. He made the decision to have a DNA test performed in order to ascertain whether Lan was his biological daughter because he was doubtful.
He confronted Hong and accused her of adultery after the findings showed that she wasn’t. Despite his denials, Hong’s suspicions caused tension in their marriage and caused him to become estranged from both his wife and daughter.
Then he resorted to drinking. Due to her husband’s accusations and alcoholism, the wife and daughter left the home and relocated to Hanoi, the country’s northern capital. But when Lan began attending a new school due to transferring cities, everything completely changed.
According to the publication, she discovered a girl who was born on the same day and in the same hospital as her. In the end, the two girls’ tight friendship would reveal the cause of the girl’s “being too pretty.” The other girl’s mother threw a joint birthday celebration for the two of them because they had grown so close.

Lan’s uncanny resemblance to the other daughter was probably not a coincidence, as the other girl’s mother noted at the celebration. The woman asked Hong if she would consent to a DNA test after deciding to have one.
The mother concurred, and the results of the DNA test showed that the two daughters had been exchanged at birth, most likely as a result of an error made by medical employees. The reason the girl resembled her friend’s mother rather than either of her parents was now evident.
It sounds like science fiction, but it isn’t. The idea is to use DNA to recreate what faces look like. Basically scientists work to isolate how genes express themselves in facial structure. This chart sort of helps conceptualize it. pic.twitter.com/EhqwZEc1OK

According to the outlet, the two families made the decision to spend more time together for the daughters’ benefit after the truth was revealed. The parents have agreed that when they think the time is appropriate, they will inform the daughters about the circumstances. The family have not stated whether or not they plan to sue the hospital for the confusion.
The way things turned out for the two families astonished a lot of people on the internet. “The medical staff made a ridiculous mistake,” one of them wrote. Thankfully, the truth was eventually revealed. Otherwise, the wife’s name couldn’t be cleared, not even by plunging into the Yellow River.”
