In a shocking and tragic turn of events a Florida mother killed her son as she was apparently trying to exorcise demons from the child’s body, as she told the police. St. Lucie County Sheriff Richard Del Toro said that the child, Ra’myl Pierre’s body was found by authorities as they made a wellness check at their home following the kid being absent for 16 days in school.
Rhonda Joyce Paulynice, the boy’s mother, had led the responding deputy inside their house, where ultimately the child’s body was discovered on the bed. It is presumed by authorities that Ra’myl Pierre had passed away on May 18, the last that the mother had spoken to him.
According to Paulynice, God had asked her to exorcise the demons from her child’s body and so she did. Talking about the incident, Del Toro said, “When the child had stopped moving and basically passed away, at that point, she felt the child had been released of those demons and was waiting for him to basically come back.”
Ra’myl Pierre’s school Samuel S. Gaines Academy requested the wellness check on May 30, after he had been absent from school since May 14. After the deputy had visited Paulynice’s house and was led inside, she went from laughing to crying while explaining what had happened to her son, Del Toro said.

An autopsy has been conducted to determine the cause of death though no concrete information is available on the same, yet. As for the charges against Paulynice, Del Toro said that she has been charged with “second-degree murder, failure to report a death and altering a body” as reported by The Mirror US. Her preliminary court appearance was on Saturday, on which she was denied bond.
The Mirror US further reported, “First responders visited the home on May 17, the day before the child’s presumed death, for a ‘medical issue’ involving Joyce, according to Del Toro. They had also visited earlier in the year for “domestic issues” involving a family member who previously lived there.”

Talking about the child and the investigation, Del Toro said that from whatever information he could gather, it appears that he was a great child who was loved by everyone. Following his death, the St. Lucie County school district has issued a statement of grief and has also offered help to teachers and students who are naturally devastated by this tragedy.
As the case against Paulynice is going on, her actions show the importance of not believing in supernatural modes of treatment and experimenting on one’s child on their own. While the condition of Paulynice’s mental health is not clear, given the nature of the incident, there might be a possibility of her not doing well, mentally.
It now remains to be seen how the investigation proceeds and what ultimately is announced to be the cause of the child’s death.
